Default E93 Evers GAI 3 $132.50? E97 McConnell SGC40 $100??

Posted By: Bob Marquette

Anyone who doubts that caramel card prices have not skyrocketed needs to do what I did tonight. I was going through my 2004 ebay sales for income tax purposes and found these two sales. Cripes! Also how about an E97 Hartsell in VGEX to EX for $135? E97 Dygert in Good Plus with a clean back for $34.00??? E97 Birmingham no creases, looks EX but a "diamond cut" for $43.00????
These were about 14-15 months ago. Eye popping prices to say the least. What about a red E98 Vaughn in VGEX+ with one tiny, tiny color fleck in the bottom border for $52.00??? Hey macbruce, I'll give you double for it if you want to sell it back! What about an E98 Tinker GAI 2.5 for $125?
Wow. I was going through the printed out ebay web pages for each sale and was grinding my teeth. I would pay double for almost every single card which sold such a short time ago.

Very true Bob.
I was just recalling to some other board guys that I sold a PSA 5 e95 chance in late 2003 for under $100 and a PSA 2 crawford for $30 on ebay.
Maybe next year these cards will return to those prices?

At one point I was diligent in tracking most of the ebay sales for caramel cards. Fairly large file but lots of info.

Wow. Great information Greg. Also, quite depressing. Bob, I bought that Vaughn card on a whim and after I received it decided to collect the set. In about six months time, I purchased 25 of the cards. I think I have only acquired one card since then. Now who's got an extra Matty, Coombs or Tenney?

The amazing thing is that when I started getting serious about E cards a little over a year ago, I was told by several collectors that they were "hot" and way overpriced even then. So, I am sure that if we could look at some prices from maybe 3 years ago they would probably be half again what they are on Greg's list in many cases. Thanks for sharing that data Greg.

It will be interesting to me to see if the ebay prices on caramel cards are reflected in the selling prices at the National.
