Default Another "Please help with this Mantle signature" thread

I hope the experts here are not too tired of these. I would appreciate your opinions.

I usually stay away from autographs because I just don't know enough, and like many of us, I have been burned before.
But I just picked up a Mickey Mantle signed photo. I bought it because I liked the photo and had never seen this image before,
and I liked the price regardless of whether the signature was authentic.

But, of course, I am curious about what the experts here think.

Here's an image of the framed (home-made frame) 16 x 20 photo on which this signature appears.
Obviously 1951 because of the shoulder patch, but I'm not sure of the stadium. I was told that it was spring training, which for
the Yankees in 1951 was in Phoenix, AZ.

Photo is clear for me haha.

I can't comment on any Mantle writing as I'm not familiar with it.

I believe the Mantle signature that most people know him for was started in the 1960s.

Are you saying that this style does not look authentic to you?

Or are you thinking that the 1951 written below the signature is meant to represent when it was signed?
It's obviously not a 1951 style signature. But I believe the "1951" is meant to indicate the year the photo was taken, not when it was signed.

That absolutely is not a vintage 1951 Mantle sig, however it looks like a late 1970s to mid 1980s sig

I am definitely not an autograph expert! I just know that Mantle's signature evolved over the years and this was an example of his later style.

You would get a lot more reasoned (and some kneejerk) responses if you post this in the autograph sub-forum. Not all of those guys venture upstream to the main memorabilia forum here.

That is a modern day mantle. He did the year in a lot of his pictures even though he was signing it many years later.

Default Thanks

To whom it may concern...Thanks for moving this to the correct forum & thanks to those who mentioned that it was in the wrong place.
Sorry for the mistake; I don't know why I didn't realize it.

And thanks again for the comments.
