Default New to this - bought these at local estate sale

Hi folks

I am new to this whole hobby, but just today a local estate sale was selling 3 boxes of mainly basketball cards, so I grabbed them. Most of them seem to be Fleer 93-94 and Upper Deck. There are thousands of cards but here are a few shots.

Sorry for the imposition, but how might you suggest I go about assessing these cards?

Thanks!
P.

You're gonna need to sort it all out and then spend some time with a Beckett basketball book or monthly. Candidly, do not be surprised if you find that they have basically no value. It was called the junk wax era for a reason.

Depends on where you live. If you live in the South in the heat then you will lose money having to dispose of.

However, if in the cold north you made out if you save for the winter months.

Look for inserts. Check the Beckett
Anything Precious Metal Gems might fetch a new house. Some might have value. But most won't be worth much. Happy Hunting!

And there may be some nice cards in the magic card starter deck. Or other magic cards. 93-4 was the beginning, and while they weren't common, the most valuable one are from those early sets.

I'm not sure about the Star Trek cards, but that was another game from about the same time that just didn't catch on.

Like others have said, sorting them by what set they are is the way to start. Inserts can be good, and if you like basketball, it's fun stuff since there's lots of great players.
