Default Slightly OT/ Design of the World Series Trophy

My wife's father was a coppersmith/silversmith and for a time in the 1960's worked for Balfour in Attleboro, Massachusetts. They were producers of championship rings as well as military insignia, high school and college rings, pins, commercial insignia, stationery, diplomas and awards. His name was Edgar William Allen and he designed for the Chrysler Eagle among other awards and commemorate medallions. He also designed in 1967, the World Series Trophy, to be presented that year to the St. Louis Cardinals for their victory over the Boston Red Sox. Below is the one picture that we have of my wife's dad posing with his trophy. Sadly, I never got to meet him as he passed away in 1977 when my wife was only six. If anyone has any additional information on the World Series Trophy, I would be extremely grateful. We were able to find his drawings and designs for the Chrysler Eagle among some old family documents, but have never been able to find the World Series Trophy drawings/blueprints.

Thanks for your kind words and sorry it took me a few days to get back to you. We were able to find another picture of my wife's dad posing with his trophy, along with the Balfour promotional materials for the trophy as well as their 1967 World Series Press Pins. We also have a picture of a plaque that he made commemorating Ted Williams induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame. And then, completely off topic but very cool, pictures of him making the Chrysler Eagle!

Here's what I was able to find out about his education: Edgar William Allen graduated from The School of Practical Arts and The Boston Museum of Fine Arts. From 1944 to 1957, he operated E.W. Allen Co, a copper studio in Newburyport, MA.

Default Ten Years After

Just came across this post from a full DECADE ago. An excellent read indeed. You really need to hang the photo of Edgar with the trophy somewhere in the Woelf Den and attach a lock of Gina's hair. Oh, and we MUST return to the BBHoF next year. Cheers!!

Attleboro Area Industrial Museum has a Balfour exhibit. If you still have not found anything after all these years, they might have a lead.

Not sure if you had seen this Steve as it is only 2 months old. -
