Always love the animals on/in our collectibles. I just snagged this photo after I missed getting it in the last LOTG auction...It goes well with the pins..

Pic taken from the street behind the left field wall at Boston's old Huntington Ave Grounds in March 1912, just prior to the Red Sox new park opening across town.

Back in the mid 70's I had an animal in my collection. Since then I try to keep them apart. This is what happens when a puppy and a newly acquired card met ( in the 1970's) . Not sure why I saved the card. But my attempt at alteration is visible at the crease. No TPG back then

When I saw the title of the thread I thought of the Menagrie e92 cards. He is my example (shown before, but hey why not show it off some more):

Non-sport, but one of my favorite original photos. The Duke and Duchess of Windsor (Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson-- he famously abdicated the throne as King of England in 1936 to marry her, an American divorcee) and their dog. The couple were famous pug lovers and had many of them, and their affection for this particular dog is obvious. The photo was by Patrick Litchtfield, a famous photographer, one of the official royal photographers and a Lord in his own right. It appears he laid down on the ground to take this shot. The photo is from the early '60s, fairly small (can't recall specifically, but smaller than 8x10"), and I sold it for $300+, most of the value due to the fame of the photographer and the presence of his stamp on back. Not bragging, just thought you'd be interested what something like this would go for.

Default More bear cubs

Clint's post reminded me of this one of the 1900 Sedro Wooley, WA team, which I picked up a few months ago.

It's the only baseball image I've seen by renowned NW photographer Darius Kinsey, and includes his studio blind stamp on the mat.

Default Airedale (?) in Spokane, clowns in Tacoma

Great pair of PCs Clint, thanks for posting!

The 1916 Spokane Indians NWL team card was sent by team member Carl Zamloch, to his older brother Claude, another former pro ballplayer. Zamloch was later head baseball coach at University of California for many years, and also a professional magician (like his father). Interesting fellow.

Other notables on this team include Ken Williams (back row, 4th from left), future 1919 Red and 27 Yankee Dutch Reuther (back row, 5th from left), Earl Sheely (front row, far right) and a youthful Abe Kemp (back row, far left), stalwart SF sportswriter and race handicapper for many years.

The 1915 Tacoma card has no animal mascots, but does have two clowns...and player/manager Joe McGinnity.
