Default Legendary winnings?? Anyone add to their collection??

I know I said I wasn't buying anything but I couldn't resist damnit! I wanted a couple of photos from the Geo.Michael collection. I can't say I have seen too many Babe sliding photos and my guess is, GM probably bought every one he saw. I love the two below. Babe Ruth was certainly one for the dramatics. Ha!

1) portrait slide 1924

2) 1923 wS safe at home

Well, mine isn't as 'iconic' as yours, but here's the one I got, plus a few more.

Those are some great images MR Scott . I agree with you, Ruth was mostly known for his sliding ability which makes these iconic as a mother humper. I am pretty sure that the "ta dah" expression was a direct result of this important/historic/ museum quality/iconic mage.

I had to have this one of the Say Hey Kid in the uniform of the Santurce Cangrejeros. Original photos of him from his only season in Puerto Rico don't seem to show up often. It appears a bit blurry but I think that coupled with the dirt exploding beneath his slide increases the impression of power, speed, and energy that defined Mays.

Default Lot 846

I finally picked up a boston brave ruth . I was particularly pleased that
it was part of the G M collection, a nice frontal shot, and very inexpensive.
Having pre-rookie Johnny Mize in it as well was an added treat. Mize had been
bought by the Reds but was to last only through a bit of spring training before being returned to the cards. It's always interesting to me to see these stars
while they were still 'trying out.' Or,sadly, as in ruth's case, 'trying to stay'.
congrats on your fine acquisitions, fellows!!!
all the best,
barry

Thanks, Curt. I picked up 44 'sliding' photos last night - I think that's my record for 'in action' acquisitions in a single night.

The Cobb is going to get matted/framed with a handwritten letter.

Sometimes you bid all night and get nada.
Other times you only want a few items and get 44.

Just to clarify.... I didn't win it.

Was blown out of the water... it was sitting low until it exploded on auction day. I thought maybe someone here won it, but these things usually go to some wealthy collector who remains anonymous.

Congrats to whoever got it

I'm too damn cheap to ever own a pennant of that age and quality!
