Default What a difference a holder makes......

Although I loved this card in a PSA holder, even with the weird shrink wrap, this card absolutely pops in an SGC holder -- especially since the black insert interacts so well with the black pen of Marquard's signature.

Anyone else have any other examples of how a holder really improves the appearance of a card?

So is SGC back to doing auto authentication and encapsulation. If so, how is their pricing scaled?

At the recent White Plains show, SGC and JSA basically shared a long table. They were still in the process of putting together a formal pricing/offer package for signed cards. I had a number of cards I wanted to have SGC/JSA graded/authenticated, so we negotiated a fee based on the players, number of cards, and turnaround time. But they will have something public soon, or so I was told....

So does that Marquard card have one of those little oval stickers on the back?

Hell no. I won't allow that. I peel them off if I ever get a card with them, as you can see on my old signed E91 McBride below.

You can ask for the sticker treatment, but I have no idea why you would....

Good!!! The guys who'd 'sticker' a card would be the same mavens who'd slice up a Cobb bat for some 'bat' cards...

I just love this 1932 Sanella Ruth that PSA graded as a PSA 7.5+, but it doesnt look good in the PSA holder. It just kind of floats around in there. I would love to see it in an SGC holder. So I sent it to SGC but it didnt cross. So I had to make the decision, keep the grade or get it in the SGC holder where it will present much better. For now I am unwilling to give up that grade. Maybe one day I will try sending it to SGC again...

Sell that one with it graded as is and use the money to buy an equivalent SGC graded one
