Default Happy 80th birthday, Bill Mazeroski.

Happy 80th birthday, Bill Mazeroski.

I know there are people who do not believe he is a Hall of Famer. Maybe his bat is not Hall of Fame material, but his glove deserves to be in the Hall.

Default Happy Birthday!

I always thought he was a great player. Along with Gene Alley, they made a good fit. I keep my sets in binders by team and he and Gene are always side by side, waiting to turn another DP.

Mike.

When I was 11-13 years old (early to mid 1980s), I wrote to dozens of retired major league players for autographs. The return letters are still somewhere at my parents' house, but Mazeroski is one of the guys I remember distinctively because he sent me an autographed card, even though I did not include a card to be autographed.
