Default Interesting Item in REA

This 1889 program advertises the NL Giants playing in Staten Island. REA correctly points out the date of the game scored as July 8, 1889. What is not pointed out is that July 8 was the date that the Polo Grounds II opened. The game that was scored was not played in Staten Island; it was the opening of what would be the home if the NL Giants until they took over the Player’s League Giants ballpark for the 1891 season. Apparently, updated scorecards were not printed for their new home, so the Giants used unsold scorecards from earlier in the season. This is an interesting and important scorecard.
