Sam Leever show and tell
As a person who follows the Pirates closely and collects the old cardboard I am a big fan of the man they call Sam Leever, never got to see him pitch, at least not in this lifetime but I do like to write about him. I also like to see what is out there for him amongst you collector. I did the telling part ( twice actually, click the blue link at the top of the story for another story) you guys do the showing part. I think it's a fair trade-off

Sam the Man.
Love the article and Sam Leever is also one of my favorites. I only have the T205 of him right now. I am looking to gather more in the future.
Thanks for sharing the article. Jon

Don't take this wrong because the card you posted is great with great color but when I saw that e107collector responded I jumped to conclusions
All I have is the t205, I actually collect Dots Miller cards but once I stall I plan to go for some of the other Pirates from that era Leever included |

This is the one I want to get soon but I looked at a couple and they all seem to have the same problem of putting the red for the lips anywhere but where it belongs. For some reason I can't get past that problem when looking at e90's

There is an 8 by 10 Sporting News archives photo of Sam Leever (portrait) on e-bay now. Listed as 1900 Samuel Leever Pittsburgh Pirate.

One other addition
Lovely E107 Tony - I think I was also an underbidder on that one ... way, way under.
This one's in a different zip code.

1907
Here's Leever featured on this 1907 postcard. His career won-lost was 194-101. Very impressive!

Here is Leever from a 1909 supplement for initial game at Forbes Field, Chicago vs Pitt. Supplement is huge and scanned only the portion with Leever.

Great stuff
Great stuff everyone. Love that 1907 postcard. I may have to try this again with another Pirates player since it is working so well
