Default D381 information scarce?

Posted By: Dave F

Interested in finding out more about these now. But information has been hard to come by other than mentioned on a few threads here on 54, and what I found on Old Cardboard. Are there cards in the set that are more of a rarity? Are the Ferguson's actually worth more than the Fleischmann's? Just how often do these come up for sale? After finding a couple example's, (Leon's and JC's)...I can't figure out how in the world Leon's Cobb wasn't graded higher? Does value make a difference when it come to the cards having the tabs at the bottom or not so much? I'm also assuming nobody would recommend letting PSA grade these, but to just stick with SGC?

There..I think I'm done. Other than asking anyone that has these to post pics!

I have Wagner, not Cobb, and it's fairly graded a 30...it has wrinkling that can't be seen from the scan....These are very scarce and the Fergusons are much more scarce....I have seen a pic of one Fergusons with tab and JC's 2, and that is it for those. I am sure there are more but who knows where. I think the Fleischmanns are scarce overall scarce and as such they aren't widely collected....so the prices stay down somewhat.....regards

Leon, didn't you get the other one last night? And from the scans..which I know aren't good, where would you put either? SGC 20? 30?

Yes I did.....I am a buying machine .....maybe I am the reason the market is still up? (not sure that's such a good thing).....I think these will grade 30-50....extremely hard to tell from the scan as these are on paper thin stock and you just can't see the wrinkles that are probably there. I have had about 20 and most were real nice and most were graded 20's-30's...with only a few 40's and 50's...and no 60's....Compare them, grade-wise, to T213-1's or T216 Virginia Extras and you get the idea....regards...
