Default Joe Jackson decal bat

A buddy of mine has a shop and this walked in. Can anyone please shed some light on the authenticity and value? Also, what was the purpose of the bat? It is 33" long and weighs right at 33 oz. as well. Thank you

It's a retail model Decal Bat, albeit a very desirable one.

Looks like the condition is excellent. Normally the decal portion is beat to hell (if the bat ever saw much use). The picture isn't very crisp, but it appears that this one is well above average. The Joe Jackson Decal is still pretty much in tact, and I don't see any cracks or other flaws of significance.

This is the type that goes for nice money in the major Catalog Auctions... roughly $2K, give or take a couple hundred. If he is looking to sell it, he can consign to one of them, or give it a run here on the BST first (free, with no commission or waiting period to be paid).

Hope this helps!

Thank you for the information. I will pass it along and try to get better pictures as well.

He hasn't bought it yet since he doesn't deal with vintage stuff but knew I was a member here. Of course, he's going to try. Once he does I'll ask him if I can post it in here first. I sold a Babe Ruth autographed photo one time in here after it walked into his shop. Thanks again
