Default 6 UNIQUE DIE-CUT CARDS found... any thoughts!!!

Posted By: Richard Lloyd

Hello,
I just bought 6 of these very UNIQUE DIE cuts of the Cleveland Indians.
The players are Russ Nixon, Herb Score,Billy Martin, Gary Bell, Rockey C. and Vic Power
The cards are a little less then 12 inches tall and on thick cardboard stock. They are blank backed and it is felt that they were issued in 1959 because one of the players only played that year. any thoughts on these?? I talked to Bob Lemke and he also trying to help me.

They could be mock-ups for a card set that was never produced.

The bottom and facsimile signature looks exactly like an exhibit card. Maybe ad cards for the exhibits?

We do know they are 12 inches tall with thick cardboard stock like the spic/span die cuts.. They are all Cleveland players.. it seems to point to a promo type give away in 1959..I do not have the cards yet and not sure what is on the back of the cards.. Maybe when I get them I can find some info on the back...

They could have been part of an advertising display, such as in a store. Old signs and stuff were commonly on cardboard and die-cut.

the images are gone from the old post, so its tough for me to tell what they are, I didnt see the original post...

I have seen a few standup type cards/premiums similar but not the same series as described...

here is one series that also has a Vic Powers with the A's so would predate that one.

not sure if its cataloged yet..

Its from ca1954, show all A's players, and the thin stock gummed back images were meant to be cut out, they say "(Moisten back. Past on Cardboard and cut out.)" they range in height from 6.5" to 8" uncut, and are 4.5" wide. Ive only seen maybe 10 individuals of them total, and have checklisted 6 different players

Frank, Thanks for the reply. You can go to Huggins & Scotts auction that is going on and look at lot 221 and see them there. LMK Thanks, Marc
