Default 1800's john clarkson

i have an extremely old card "john clarkson." portrait shot on heavy cardboard which measures 1"7/8 inches by 3"1/2 inches, with 'boston' across his chest and he faces to his left, or right on the card. no one seems to know what it is or if it has been catalogued. i thought it might be a 1893 just so tobacco 'trimmed' or perhaps an 1887 four base hits 'trimmed'. no one knows. got any ideas of where i could look for pictures. i dont have a scanner yet, but i have taken a digital picture which i can attach in an email to forward to any one who thinks they might can id this. thanks. gmhoag@tampabay.rr.com thanks for your help. george h

The most common cards with Clarkson on them were the 1887 N28 Allen and Ginter, and the 1887 N172 Old Judge. There were a few others, but much less common.

Does the card say anything else on it? I thing the ginters and judges had the company name on the front. The 4 base hits have the company name on the bottom and the teams city above the picture.
The Just so card will say Cleveland on the shirt. [IMG][/IMG]
