Nothing for me, I think that Plank belonged to a board member, nice win.

Thanks, Jeff. And you are correct - I just heard from Tony (who's card it was).

No wins for me - led on the Mendelsohn Cobb until about midnight and then got blown away - $19,000 + is a really strong price for that card.

I was in on the Pinkerton Jennings until it broke $4k, then I had to bow out. Congrats to whoever won it.

That's a really nice price, Chris. Most of the Ruths that have sold have not come close to that..........

Yep it seems that this set is starting to be appreciated by collectors a little more lately.

Cobb is tougher to find than Ruth (who is probably the easiest card to find in the set) but 19k is still an amazing price, and like you said more than the Ruth's get usually. Could have been a couple of Cobb collectors battling it out as well.

Were these distributed as mail-in offers, etc. similar to the W600's where it would make sense that the most popular players of the era would have many more surviving examples today than the run-of-the-mill players who might not have been requested nearly as much?

They were available for purchase from the publisher, but I am not sure if that meant you could buy all of the cards or selected ones from a checklist or something. Ruth shows up a lot (relatively speaking) but other major stars like Joe Jackson never turn up - I am not sure if I have ever seen a Jackson for sale.

It sure is a lot of money considering that you could have gotten that same Cobb and a bunch more cards at the last REA auction for ~12K including BP: Link. I think it's fair to say that M101-6's are hot now.

There was a bunch of great cards in that lot... I believe it somehow flew under the radar... At least I missed it.
