Default Show off your t206 Printer Marks

Hey all! I was looking through my collection this weekend and was very excited to find out that my t206 McGraw has a little printer mark on the bottom. Just thought it was neat to find one on one of my own cards without knowing it was there before. I would like to see everyone else's printer marks as well! Please feel free to share

Some examples. The last one is the line in the top right corner, hard to see in the scan but looks a little darker in person

It took a minute or 2 to soak up the impact of those scans....all I can say is HOLY SCRAP......those cards are INSANE!! I'm having a slight scrap stroke at the moment....you'll have to excuse me......I can't look at them too long, i'm JEALOUS!!!!!!! WOW....let me just say...

LETS break it down son...

Willis - THE YELLOW BROWN WILLIS:

eek:....it is like a work of art....he looks like a mime....I love the missing staduim...LOVE IT!....I lost a DEL HOWARD a few years ago in lipset....similiar, but piedy YELLOW B, missing staduim, i know who has it also, and i love it.....THE WILLIS IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL example of classic yellow brown 350-460 series FACTORY #30 ...YES #30, which you know is not a possible back combo....your eye for mint cards is second to none, but ON SCRAP...all your examples are BREATHTAKING!MINT SCRAP if such a thing exists, i always like them a little beat up and ruf, but the minty ones "pop"....scuse me, i'm having palpatations.....

Willis- THE BLANK BACK WILLIS:

OMG! You know I LOVE BLANK BACKS.....try to get a hofer and see how easy it is????!!!....YOU CAN'T, they are impossible!!the collector who owns the chance yellow portrait that was in GOODwin got the STEAL OF A LIFETIME.....your Willis is such a BEAUTY....THESE BLANK BACKS ARE SO UNDERVALUED collectors have no clue, trust me

Bates proof Type I:

RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CROSS HATCHED BAD ASS PROOF! I do not own a proof, and I am JEALOUS WONKS.....the bates speaks of what i truly look in a scrap, i love the fat wavy crazy cut scrap, let a lone a true proof....

Elberfeld - YELLOW BROWN:

How could you not want an impossible combo???these scraps are the alternative T206 set.....where the collectors can truly own a unique, rare, one of a kinds, snowflakes!!!!each scrap is different in its own right, a T206 set that NOONE ELSE CAN OWN...is one of my dreams.......besides you know the wagner for me....PHEW!! this card is also a work of art

i'm getting weak and already have said to much and probably will make it impossible for myself to purchase my sweet scraps, but alas i can't hold it in...

Thanks Johnny, I just love you’re enthusiasm on these things I swear if I could bottle your excitement and sell it I would be a billionaire.

If anyone ever finds a yellow/brown Wagner I fear for your health!

I don’t have many missing color 3 or 4 but I agree they really are neat.

Cheers,

John

THANKS MAN!! but seriuosly of the few examples you have, THEY ARE INSANE.....they are just beauties.....my favorite is the proof, just a beautiful example.....if u ever decide to sell a card or 2 , do NOT sell those one of a kind beauties

The only 2 scrap wagners are the ghost overprint piedy 150 and the strip i know of, but imagine a classic yellow brown?? i think impossible but nice to dream.....id love to own one of those, they are my dream cards and a life goal, as u know.....but seriously your collection is prob mind blowing, , but those sweet scraps and freaks (like your uppies) are my favorite

all i can say is wow!!and i need a drink

For those of you that have never met Johnny V in person, he is exactly like you would assume from his writing. I have no idea how he has held a serious job with responsibilities all these years, but I know once he gets out of work he is a different person the entire time. He has a true passion for t206 cards like no one else

Johnny

Reading your emails is like hearing your voice in my head with all the enthusiasm and excitement that you always bring to a T206 conversation ... and it always brings a smile to my face!!!

John (Wonka), seeing the images of the cards you have been amassing, with an eye for quality and rarity is a delight! I am reminded of the get together at my son Scott's house years ago when a number of us brought our cards to show each other and talk about this fun hobby of ours.
Maybe it's time to do it again. I know I would enjoy seeing you guys (and your cards) once more.
If there is interest let's start a seperate thread and see what develops.

Hank

It looks possibly skinned. Can you get a better scan?

I'd probably agree with atx840, but we'd need a better scan first.

Larry, I agree with Chris. I believe it to be skinned. As a soaker supreme, you would know if that was scrapbook paper added to the back.

Default Joe Doyle printer's mark

Remnant printer's mark on the Joe Doyle card (center)....after the 1st printing plate erasure of the "Nat'L" lettering on the error card. The caption in the rightmost
card is clean. The majority of the Joe Doyle cards have a clean caption as this one. My sampling of 200+ different Joe Doyle cards over the past 6 years indicates
that approx. 8 % of the Joe Doyle cards have this printer's mark. And, I expect that a larger sampling will eventually yield even a smaller number than 8 %.

Great info Ted! Thanks for sharing. This brings me to my next question though...I have a Joe Doyle, SGC 50 and it seems to have a partial "Y" in the N.Y. There is no paperloss, so it makes me wonder if it is a printer mark or just lack of ink on the printing plate.
