These types of items continue to be auctioned although I have never paid much attention to who is selling. People must be buying. If individuals want to spend money on these cutouts that is their business, but I would assume most sales are to the uninformed.

Clever scam. Paper cutouts from turn-of-the-century Reach, Spaulding etc. catalogues (authentic anyways). A slab, some pop rivets and a sticker and voila.. Instant grading company! Usually bought by newcomers to the hobby. Some wiser ones soon realize their mistake, then E-cycle 'em.

Sad to think how many naive folks bought and stored them, for when Jr. needs tuition money.

They can probably buy the same Collier's Magazine for less than $10 shipped if they looked. My feeling is that the people who fall for this see the word "Plaque" and think this is something that was inserted into the magazine....they're going to be really disappointed when they get it and find that their "Plaque" has typed words on the reverse.
