Default zeenuts or e98...which would get your vote?

Posted By: Dave F

I've been contemplating either making a run at a collection of zeenuts (one from each year) or going after the e98's again (I have 20% of the set at the moment). Which would be the more popular choice? I have an idea about e98's...but as far as zeenuts, how much money would you think it would take to put an example together from each year in say good condition? I'd probably start without worrying about coupons...although the two examples I have at the moment, 1913 and 1923 both have coupons.

Would love to get some opinions on which set....

In "good" condition, from an economic standpoint, the zeenut run would be far less expensive to complete. I would venture that it could easily be done for less that $2,000. That presupposes that the cards are without coupons (except for 1934-1936) and that there are no stars. For a run with coupons you are talking upwards of $10,000.

I would guess that the e98's may run up to $15,000 or more to complete what with the Cobb, Matty and Wagner.

If you like the obscure go with the zeenuts. If you like the well known players go with the e98's. Me, I like zeenuts.
