Default MVP Trivia

Only 4 outfielders have won back-to-back MVP awards. Name them.

Bonds obviously. I think Maris did. Dale Murphy. Have to think about the 4th. Maybe Mantle.

Well that didn't last long. I was expecting Murphy to take a little longer to pop up. Moving on

Now here's a possibly tough one -- what pitcher did it?

Until 1990* one player and ONLY one player at each position had won back to back MVP's. One of my all time favorite questions. You have your outfield (Maris, Mantle, Murphy) can you fill in your lineup card?

Hal Newhouser. Actually at one time there we 9 guys who had won back to back MVPs, one at each position. Lets see if people can name the catcher and 4 infielders.

You beat me by 1 minute. I know the answer, so I will let others get the last 5.

Correct. He was the king of WW II baseball had some unreal seasons. I will stand down and let others try on the rest.

In fact I think the back of his ‘60 topps card references them.

The catcher was Yogi Berra in 1954 & 1955 . The 3rd baseman was Mike Schimdt in 1980 & 1981.

Not really, his 1960 MVP year is often mentioned as evidence that 1961 was not really a fluke.

So I believe we have completed the 2nd MVP trivia question as posted by Scott. So lets keep the ball rolling with MVP trivia, shall we?

3 players have won the Triple Crown but not the MVP in that same season. Who are they?

Default Teddy Ballgame

1947. Despite batting .343, hitting 32 dingers, and knocking in 114 he lost out to DiMaggio. Oddly enough, six years earlier in 1941 when he batted .406 he was second to Joe D. again, who just happened to hit safely in 56 games. Or so I heard 🤪

Ted Williams won the Triple Crown in 42 and 47, but didn't win the MVP either time. Lou Gehrig also won the Triple Crown, but not the MVP.

Correct, since 1990 there have been 4 back to back MVPs. Bonds, Thomas, Pujols and Cabrera.

Ducky Medwick won the triple crown in 1937 (I think), but didn't win the MVP.

This is probably an easy one:

What year were the two league MVPs born on the same day; same year?
