Default B&L Auction Ends Tonight- special note on closing time

Posted By: scott

A friendly reminder for both registered and non-registered bidders(there is still time to register), Brockelman & Luckey Auctions' Spring Sale ends tonight.

Initial bidding ends at 7:00 CST, you must have bid on lots of interest prior to that time to continue bidding. There is NO extended period, the fifteen minute rule will begin at 7:00 CST, ALL auction lots will remain open until a 15 minute period has passed with no bids. This will allow the auction to close at a reasonable time.

Good luck.
Please email with any questions.

I can't seem to get to the auction site. The homepage is working just fine for me, but the auction page won't come up. Am I the only one?

I guess it is my computer because I still can't get it to come up. I have had no problems at all through the whole thing, but now it stops working!

There was a tiny outage....we were on it immediately and it's back up. We are going to clear some files and it will probably go down for about 20 seconds, or less, in a few minutes. We are doing that as a precaution. Sorry for the inconvenience. If something catastrophic happens the last several hours we always have an option of going another day....but that would be a very last resort (knock on wood). We are getting over 30 bids an hour for the last few hours. Thanks to all for the support!! best regards

I just want to make sure I understand this....Every auction lot will remain open until there is a silence of 15 minutes? So if a lot does not get a bid in the first 15 minutes after 8:00 it will remain open if there are bids on other lots? Just want to make sure I do not miss something I want to bid on.

I had the same question as above, so I guess we have to wait all night?

Thanks Jimmy

The auction has a 15 minute rule. All lots will end simultaneously(hope I spelled that correct). The auction will close when NO bids are received for a quarter hour period by the clock. In other words if no bids are received from 10:00 to 10:15 the auction will close. If one bid occurs during that 15 minutes, the bidding will be extended to 10:30 and so on.

With only 200+ lots, the auction will not go all night, the last one ended shortly after midnight and we had nearly 500 lots.

Is the 15 minute clock supposed to count down? It just says refresh the page.

I have a reputation to uphold. I was the class spelling champion in 5th, 6th and 8th grade. My claim to fame. I can't let the board down.

7PM CST = 5PM PST = too early to close a weekday auction, imho. But I've adapted...

Scott- one day we will have to either have a spelling contest, or arm wrestle (for the record I clock in at 145 pounds).

Why is the auction still going on? I saw the clock click to zero. I refreshed the page a few times and the clock still read zero, but now the auction is going again.

It can go to 0 and then take a minute or so to reset. Each hour is broken into 4 individual increments. If a bid is placed in one of those increments then the next increment goes in it's entirety. I can tell you the auction will go at least 27 more minutes....as there has been a bid since 10pm CST....I hope that makes sense. We would prefer to have each lot end individually (we think) but this s/w can't do that. We are told it will be able to for our next auction. Then Scott and I will discuss to see if that is something we want to do. Of course we mainly work for the consignors so whatever benefits them, without causing too much stress, is what we will do. regards

edited to add...by the time I posted this a few minutes had transpired....the clock is set to equal 15 minute increments, technically

Thanks to all who participated, both Buyers and Sellers.

Final invoices are now ready online. There will be no hardcopies mailed, please print out two copies, keep one for your records and remit the other with payment.

All items will be shipped as soon as possible after receiving payment. In turn consignors will be paid as soon as possible after funds clear. All consignors will be paid by the end of March.

We look forward to working with everyone again on our next auction.

Thanks

Scott & Leon

congrats to all of the winners.

I am kicking myself for not going higher on one lot -- but thats just how it goes.

Jeff... I'm not going to the National. Or...... am I? better always look three tables in all directions as I may be grabbing that one cool card in the entire show.

Man, there were some really great deals on some of these lots. Sad to say that some of those great deals were cards that were mine sad.gif

I agree there were some great deals although I just looked at your lots and I only see 1 (the largest one) that was probably a few hundred under market price, after the BP is added. I know because I have sold similar ones, when the market was much better. One other thing about those cards too. If I remember correctly they were marketed extensively before being consigned. That can have an adverse effect when they get auctioned. Sorry they didn't do better for you.

No one can say we shill bid, that is for sure. Also, for the record, we had more different winning bidders than our previous auctions. There were around 1500 total bids on our 212 lots. I think the market is still a little, to quite a bit, soft on all but the better stuff. I think we had around 10-15% of our lots not meet reserve, which was ok too. I am sure there is at least 1-2 idiots who will still think we did something underhanded. But idiots are generally always idiots.....

Nice auction Scott and Leon.

Not sure if this is the place for this but if whoever won lot #80 (E-135 raw lot of 22) and reads this board, I would like to buy 3 cards from that lot which represents 13.6% of the total cards. I would be willing to pay well over 20% of the total value of the hammer price including the BP and I would say the 3 cards are average or slightly below the average condition of the lot. You can e-mail me at msteele_1959@msn.com

Anyway, I did pick up a lot and look forward to the next auction.

Michael

Leon & Scott, great auction, I ended up missing out on a few things I really wanted, and picked up a few things I only kinda wanted, but I also got some I am really excited to own.

I ended up winning the 1934 Buffalo Bisons Type Card, The 1939 Michigan Sportservice lot, The 1930 Blue Ribbon Malts, and a few other odds and ends. Overall a pretty fun auction with a nice mix of the esoteric stuff I like.

...regarding the lot of E-135s. I'd be interested in two of the cards, Gallia and Morgan (hopefully not the same ones Michael is).
