Well this is my first "pick up" post. When I've acquired stuff it seemed to me sensible to keep my holdings to myself.

But I'm just bustin' with joy over getting Goostree, leaning on bat, from the Winchester team of Kentucky's Bluegrass League, as depicted in series 6 of the T210 Old Mill red border cards. 63 down, 3 to go...

John,
That Matty is great! I have never seen that before. The pose looks like the E98 pose, which l love. Great card! Are those hand-cut like orange borders?

Jim, yes handcut like J&K etc, super tough to find. The only one I have ever seen, they also can be found with a basepath type design around the image. Another collector I know has a few examples of those with the diamond design. Dont know much more about them other than that.

I love this image of Matty too, part of the reason I bought it.

Frank: There are cards and then there are cards. That T210 Goostree is a humdinger! A terrific little piece of American art. Almost looks like a fine sketch. Thanks for posting it.

Now that you mentioned it, they do look very laid back. Speaker (bottom row, third player from the right) looks like a kid who doesn't want his picture taken. He just wants to go and play baseball.

John and Jim- that Unc Matty originated from my November, 2005 auction. Oddly, my consignor sent it in to SGC before the auction and they refused to grade it, as they didn't know what it was. But when the winning bidder submitted it, they shifted gears. That was always a bit of a sore point I had with SGC, but hey, overall they are great. And yes, it was cut out from a larger panel, perhaps a box cover of some kind. And it is rare!

very nice card.

As far as the set goes... the 'I don't want to take this picture' pose award goes to the Chicago Americans top row.

Classic.

Barry,

That’s interesting I did not know that, I could see why you would be a bit bummed at SGC for that. Grading is such a funny thing sometime. Well if I ever sell it perhaps it can be back in a Sloate auction once again and in a graded state. LOL

It’s the only one I have ever seen, have you seen any others? I’ve seen a couple with the larger base path design (no Matty) but that’s about it, and up until last year had never even heard of or seen them before.

John

John- I've seen a different player and I recall it was red, but can't remember who it was or where I saw it. Could it have been a Wagner?

John, I used to own a Cy Young from the same set as that sweet Matty you picked up. The Young was the "Irv" pose, and had a nice straight cut just like yours does. It also had a "toy town" stamp on the back.

Nice pickup!

Nice blank back...those are always great to see.

IMO a t206 blank front would compliment any set as well.

Picked up a few different T206's with neat backs, a really nice T205 MinorLeaguer with some back markings that brought the technical grade down. an E102 Dononovan, an E90 Demmit, and a couple other T206's not shown. Sorry for all the different sized scans, lol
