Default Books with Vintage Cards

Posted By: BigHurleyHick

I was wondering if there are any books available that have pictures of each individual cards from different pre WWII sets. I have a volume of 2 books which has pictures of most comic book covers from around 1935-1960 and was wondering if there is an equivalent for baseball cards? Also what is the big price guide for pre war cards? I know auction results are usually the best indicator but was curious as to what printed guides are available. Thanks.

Frank Slocum's book Classic Baseball Cards, The Golden Years 1886-1956 is a good start. Register with Mastro for $75 and as long as you bid everytime (win or lose) the catalogs will keep coming. And Alan Hagers book has some nice pictures.
Also, a subscription to Old Cardboard and the back issue run of VCBC are excellent reference material as well.
