I didn't like the colors on that card at all. But every other card in the auctions looked good to me.

I was watching too, exciting card. Not to be a stick in the mud here, but don't we usually wait a few days before posting something like this to prevent interference? (Note: I did not win)

Boom. All of the six superprints are theoretically possible with both BL 350 and BL 460. Probably just a matter of time til we see them all. Of course we could have the situation where one or two were printed but simply did not survive.

Rather weird wear on the card...semi-square top corners, and very rounded bottom corners? Just seems odd.

Did anyone email the seller to confirm that the Broadleaf back matched up with Matty? I mean, it looks pretty obvious, but I'm just curious if anyone pressed the issue.

This auctioned whoooooshed over my head. I am impressed with the passion you guys have for this set. Good stuff.

The description says that the Mathewson is the Broad Leaf, but it could be a rebacked card. Just looks like a strange card. I hope whoever did win it will let us know the finding.

+1. VERY noticeable difference in corner wear. Hard to explain.

Default Ouch!

A "no bid" here as my pitiful bid was bested by 5 other people.

The card looks short to me. If it started life as a tall boy, or even as a normal card that was slightly off-center with more space at the top (the name is close to the bottom of the card so this might be the case) then a single trim on the top could explain the difference and they might not have trimmed the bottom because any trim there would have trimmed the name off. It would be great if it were real - my concern was a frankencard with a front and back stuck together.

I'm guessing fake front real back. Hopefully I'm wrong and the buyer got a nice deal. I hope we'll find out.

I also think it is a rebacked card.

I have seen several dozen rebacked cards over the last ten years.... Many in TPG holders. Most have the same corner wear, a few creases and some notching on the side, as well as a few other "tells" that I won't mention here.
Be well Brian

PS This card doesn't even look like one of the "better" rebacks from the scan.

looks altered to me...I was scrutinizing the rounded corners esp on the bottom...compare the curvature and weird looking wear on the left front to the right back....the corners just don't seem to line up perfectly...as they should. for sure trimmed to fit as well.

I think it's suspect that it's hidden in with a group of other beaters. Does not look like the makings of a group that was found together. I hope it's the real deal but too many red flags for me.

If you look at his feedback, the first couple of items have "reproductions" included as part of the items sold.

I think the two SGC cards are 1911 BL, which is their way of denoting BL 460 of which they have graded two. A BL 350 would show up at SGC as 1910 BL, of which there are 0 for this (PSA also has 0). Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think this remains unconfirmed.

Default listing

It is interesting that he listed his T206's under "Cards" "Other", rather than "Cards" "Baseball" .

You're correct Bryan if the pop report says 1911 it would be BL 460.

I've seen one SGC A Matty BL460, its a beauty. I believe all 6 super prints were printed in both series but in such low numbers.

Interesting fact: There are 34 possible BL460s, 33 of those have been found as yellow brown scraps, no others are known. Chase dark cap is the last on to be found. Same sheet??

It was owned by a little old lady. She only took it out on weekends.

Put me in the re-backed camp on this one. Horrible scans and card looks completely altered/re-backed.

the seller could not have underplayed this more than he did. If it's not real than the seller deserves an Oscar for slipping a golden egg into an otherwise seemingly innocuous listing.

No way this way real, has to be rebacked. The seller has lots of experience selling cards (see previous sales). He would know what he had if it was a true BL and it would be advertised to a much higher level, fake in my opinion and no way worth laying out 2k plus for the lot.

Default I was wondering too

I e-mailed the seller at the time of the auction and he said he would guarantee my bid if it ended up being fake. I ended up being outbid at the very end. Wondered if someone here won it and had it checked out.

I know the guy who bought this. He said it was ok if I shared: when he got it in hand it was clearly rebacked - the card was returned for a full refund. The search for Matty continues ...
