Default Choosing up sides-your team

Waiting for the Goodwin Auction to open so my mind wanders--pretend you are on the playground choosing up sides for a baseball game. You can choose any player and 3 to sit with you on the bench. Note they don't have to be the best or HOF just guys you would like to bring together for a game. OK mine:

1st-Lou Gehrig
2nd-Bill Mazeroski ( still greatful for your HR 1960)
3rd-Eddie Mathews
ss-Pee Wee Reese
OF-Mickey Mantle
OF-Babe Ruth
OF-Joe Jackson
C-Yogi Berra
P-Christy Mathewson

Bench-Casey Stengel
Bench-Dale Long
Bench-Dizzy Dean

PLAY BALL !!!!!!

Pete....Omar Vizquel as the Giants all-time SS? Isn't this like his third year with them? The Giants might have more Hall of Fame SS's than any other team: John Ward, George Davis, Dave Bancroft and Travis Jackson. I'd probably go with Davis.

Sure can't quibble with the rest of that team, though. What a lineup!

Howard,

Actually, I've always wondered why it took so long for George Davis to get into the Hall of Fame, as you said an outstanding SS in his time. Even more than that many say he was among the top 5 players in the league for many years while he was playing.

I guess I'm just partial to this year's Giants' and feel that Omar Vizquel is underrated.
