Default Encyclopedia of Baseball Cards - Volume 4

Posted By: Marckus

I figured I change direction for a minute from the blaze at Burr Ridge....

Question: Would you "pony up" some sort of contribution to Lipset in effort for him to pen the final installment of his Encyclopedia of Baseball Cards - Volume 4 - Bakery and Bread Issues (D Cards).

It would be interesting to read his insight and perspective from back in the days in contrast to the current market. And with the internet, he could probably gather much more information on the issues; such as D303, 304, 310, 311, etc.....

Insights?

Mark

I would most certainly be very interested in a volume 4 - the first three are classics , although the price guide is a little outdated .

I certainly would pay to locate a resource focusing on D cards. Is anyone aware of any existing publication dedicated to D cards?

Hey Marckus,
Or should I say "Howdy Markus"? I just moved to the Great State of Texas, so I guess "Pony Up" is the right terminology for me now...Anyways, I wondered when (or if?) Mr Lipset was gonna put out Volume 4. I'd really like to hear what he has to say bout the D's. Reading and Listening is Learning, My Father tought me dat... You (or someone?) get it going and I've got $100 For The Elbow into Lew's side.

See you roundin' 3rd,
Denny

as I too would love to see a Volume 4, but when I asked Lew about that a year or so ago, he seemed less than inspired to take on such a project. Maybe he's changed his mind and/or a suitable offer could be made, but I'm not holding my breath.

Still, thanks again Lew for what you've alrady given us.

I don't want to speak for Lew but "less than inspired" is probably an understatement from my conversations with him....

Lew says it best for himself on his "me" page on eBay... It was planned to be 6 volumes.

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for volume four but, as others have echoed, we should be very grateful for the three that he was able to complete.
