Default eBay SCAMMER, he did 1-day auctions

Ok, so I've heard about people stealing scans.

Never knew that it would happen to me.

Here is his item:

http://cgi.ebay.com/T206-Mordecai-Br...item19c80ad35f

That's my card that JUST ended.

http://cgi.ebay.com/T206-MORDECAI-BR...item336a5f0b65

He also has a Yogi Berra card, that he even says that the card pictured is not the card the buyer will receive.

Jeez, that's awful.

Apparently he's not aware of the PSA rules on qualifiers either, according to the question he answered at the bottom.

And, btw, there is paper loss.

I sent him a nice message...

Maybe he does have the cards, but just waits for the right scans to pop up from other people to sell his cards.

Usually scammers go for the grand slam home run. This guy dragged a bunt down the first base line with the cards he's put up.

Scanners aren't expensive. If he actually does have cards to sell, this makes him look really bad.

Normally I'd agree, but he answered a question without ever saying that the card pictured was not the card someone would receive.

Regardless, he stole a scan from my auction...

Perhaps he is one of the scammers that tries to go under the radar with 1 or 2.

Probably my very best T-card purchase was from a seller who used MY SCANS. They really didn't have a scanner but they listed cards that were never cataloged so I knew they were for real.

There are a few times when folks are telling the truth and it seems as they are being dishonest. Those times are few and far between but it does happen.

His response to my message:

Go ahead and contatc ebay u fu***** fa****. I didnt realize that using your scan was a violation of ebay policy. I was selling the same exact card at the same grade. Give me a ********** for that you ****sucker.

So, apparently his only crime is that he is, well, how do I say it, on the lowest part of the totem pole that represents intelligence. His second claim to idiocy is that he is vulgar. He should be caged!

Leon: let me know if I need to clean it up at all, I wasn't sure what to do for some of his kind words. For that last nice bit of professionalism he exhibited, I wanted to have the 2nd part of the kind word in there as to not possibly hint that he used a different choice word with a very similar suffix...

Someone here should buy it and file a "item is not as described" case against him for his rudeness.

eBay got on this one rather quickly (he did it as a 1 day auction) and ended it.

I think this guy was intending on using the veil of "Oh.....I didn't know that!!!!", but knew full well what he was doing.

My card looks great for a 2, and I think he wanted to use the front to represent that the people would be getting a great deal. He had about 10 words in his description, and no where did he write "this is not the item you'll receive". In fact, someone sent in a question to him asking if there was anything on the back, like paper loss or ink because they assumed there would be, since the corners/centering looked that of a 4 or 5. He posted that question with his answer (something like: "No! There is no ink, or it would be a MK, and there is no paper loss at all! The back is clean!").

No mention that he was using someone else's scan with some other collector's card's Serial #.

Wow! I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Somebody obviously has problems integrating with society.

Scammer or not, he's certainly not somebody who should be interacting with the general public in a sales position.

Well put!

His id is: slimpimpin84.........

If his vocation is what he is broadcasting via his ID, maybe he simply isn't used to interacting with the general public.

Default Same guy

This is the same guy that tried to sell/trade me a '52 Mantle PSA 3 for a 1933 Sport Kings set I had listed on Ebay. When I asked him for a scan of the Mantle...he gave me a scan of a Mantle already listed on ebay by 707 Sportscards. The PSA #'s matched and everything. When I questioned him on the #'s he said he thought PSA had just made a mistake.
He also insisted that I send him my '33 set first and then he would send me the Mantle.
After I turned down the offer the language began to flow.

Ah, so even though he's fulfilling the role of those that are known as the scum of the earth, he then perpetuates his scumbagness by resorting to vile and disgusting language...

Ah - okay! So I think it's safe to say we should keep an eye on this guy. He's not done.

slimpimpin84. Now that sounds like a name you can trust

Funny how this idiot would get mad at you & cuss at you because you didn't like him using a scan of your card to "pimp" his trash. LOL

Sincerely, Clayton

Ya, I put his "items for sale" on my favorite list. I'm going to keep an eye on him for a while.

Look at this beautiful auction:

Sure. Here's the story.

The T90 Nature series by La Marquise Cigarettes are very unusual cards of birds from around 1910. What makes them unusual is that they have actual bird feathers from the named bird glued onto the card (i.e. the peacock card has real peacock feathers). Clearly a highly labor-intensive, scarce, and easily damaged card.

About 12 years ago there were only 7 cataloged cards in the set. As recent as 2 years ago there were only about 15 cataloged cards. They were numbered and the highest was "30" so it was believed that 30 different examples were made. About 6-7 of them were shown on the non-sports page right here http://www1.coe.neu.edu/~dan/T90/go.html - updated recently. I had 4 examples and paid over $200 for each.

An auction appeared a little over 2 years ago with 40 cards from the set. At that time only about 30 total examples were known (and most were owned by a well-known Set Registry collector on this site), so this effectively doubled the known population if real. The red flags were obvious, a seller with a feedback of zero, and the scans were from the non-sports site of which I currently owned 2 of them.

What made me think the auction was real was the list of the 40 cards included the ones I knew were correct along with some new ones. Only an advanced collector of the set, of which there were none, could have gotten this right. The auction ended the same night as the Legendary Live auction so flew under the radar when I took a chance and won them.

After a dozen unreplied emails and 6 weeks later, they arrived and were real, doubling the known population. Oddly enough this auction caused another lot of around 20 to appear boosting the known population to around 90 cards, with the most having 5 examples known. One of the cards is still unknown and one has a population of 1 (think E107 Breisch-Williams rarity).

After trading the dupes, I have 24 of the 30 different, someone else also has 24, another collector has 21, and another collector about 12. Everyone else shares the remaining 9 known cards.

Side note: Some of the cards are for birds that have feathers that are illegal to own in the US, except that these cards were produced a few years before the Department of the Interior laws made them illegal - i.e. they are grandfathered in as legal.

It looks like slimpimpin84 broke down and bought himself a scanner...he just hasn't figured how to use it yet.
