Default Wilt Chamberlain 8x10 (team issued?) photo help..

Hello!

I recently purchased this Wilt Chamberlain 8x10 and was wondering if anyone knew what year it is from. It looks very similar to some team issued photographs I've seen of him (one from around 1960, another attributed to 1964 and one from 1966 or 67).

Thanks!
-Frank

I don't think it s a 1960. Here are two from 1960 that have a stripe across the uniform that isn't on yours.

A rookie jersey SCP auctioned in 2015 shows the stripe:

My head through the hoop one is newspaper archive dated to November 1960. It also matches a 1960 action shot I have of Wilt and Bill slugging it out. I will see if I can find a scan of that one.

Thanks! I tried to match the uniform with no success. The only other thing I came up with was the fact that it had him listed at 250 pounds while a later team issued photo of him had him at 275.

Besides that though, I haven't been able to come up with much....

Thanks! I collect Philadelphia memorabilia so when I see a Wilt item I haven't seen before, I always go for it.

I think we can solve the mystery with some research. The Warriors moved to SF for the 1962-63 season, and we know it isn't a 1959-1960 or 1960-61 image because the jersey is wrong. So it has to be a 1961-62 team issue. Here's a photo from the 100 point game:

The jersey looks to match the style.

And, just because I ran across it:

is that astonishing or what?

Definitely astonishing!

Thank you so much for your help. I like collecting these odd-ball pieces so I'm really glad you were able to date it.
