Someone sent me an email today that contained some of those "thought for the day" items. One of them could probably pass as a motto for a lot of us:

27. There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

And a variant on that is:

The difference between genius and insanity is acceptance.

when referring to my attitude towrad baseball cards, but does make use of "obsession" freely. Also: "What are you going to live on when you're 80?"

On a more reasonable note, Bob quit collecting beer bottle caps ALL over Chicago (a very wide place!) at a fairly young age, because "I spent so much time thinking about them that I could have used thinking about something else" (He didn't pay to ride the bus; he hitched rides on the back with his bike).

1. You'll have more money to live on when you're 80 (and for baseball cards) if you stop contributing to your psychologist's retirement fund.

2. Bob should never have given up collecting beer bottle caps. It's so much fun emptying the bottles!
