Default 1927 York/1928 W502 Tony Lazzeri Uniform Info

I don't know if anyone other than me will find this interesting (maybe the rookie card collctors?). Anyways, I recently picked up an example of the 1928 W502 (blank backed) Tony Lazzeri card and as I was looking at it I noticed the jersey he was wearing onbiously didn't really go with any known Yankees uni I had ever seen so I did a little digging through my Zeenut collection and it appears the photo that was used for the Lazzeri image on these cards was while he was with the Salt Lake PCL team. Specifically I found a 1925 O'Doul where you can see the same portion of the "S" & "L" together on the sleeve of his jersey. See images below, Vitt image included to show more of the 1925 SLC jersey...

Anyways, I thought it was pretty neat that there is actually another card out there (other than his 2 expensive 1922 & 1925 Zeenuts) depicting the 60 HR guy while with Salt Lake.

Default cool stuff

I think it's cool. Thanks for sharing....I was looking at a W502 Lazzeri recently and thought it was a different looking portrait, kind of like a type 2 photo .

Default That is very cool...

Rhett - you don't miss a thing ! That is interesting, and if I was a Salt lake, HOF, or Lazzerri collector, that would be a card I would have to have... Neat minor league image/jersey... Nice catch !
