Default Show your Latin American Beisbol items...Puerto Rice, Cuba, Mexico, etc

I did a search and didn't find any threads directly related to Latin American Baseball Leagues/Players/etc.
So I was inspired by Jim Stinson's 2 posts about visiting Cuba in the autograph section, and I decided to start a new thread.

So let's show what we have of that great Heritage and culture.

I'll start off with an article written by Ken Smith. He was a writer for the New York Mirror, but perhaps was best known as director of the HOF from 1964 to 1976.
http://www.baseball-fever.com/showth...-Writers/page2
Scroll down to post #28.
This is his typed copy describing the scene in Puerto Rico. It is typed on Condado Beach Hotel stationary. Was closed in 1971, but is supposed to be open as Condando Vanderbilt Hotel.

Very cool content from winter of 1954 as it mentions Mays' catch against Cleveland.

1951-52 Cuban Baseball schedule.

I have no vintage Latin items in my collection to speak of. All of these are more recent but I think they are entertaining nonetheless. The ball was obtained at the Goodwill games in Tacoma. A friend was serving as an interpreter. I asked him to get me the autographs of Antonio Pacheco, Omar Linares, Orestes Kindelan, and German Mesa as they were the stars. He took the ball in the dugout and returned with all four players. They were happy that I had knowledge of them and then each shook my hand and signed the ball for me. I so wish I had a camera. The four of them were quite impressive especially Linares and Mesa. It is such a shame they never got to compete in the Majors. The second is a poster that was used in Cuba to advertise the 1999 game featuring the Orioles vs. the Cuban National Team. It features Linares I would love to have it signed by him and Ripken. The final two are a pair of Type 1 photos of Fidel playing baseball.

Here's a Puerto Rican League ball which I believe dates to 1976 (that's the year on the logo on the south panel anyway).

And a 2007 Caribbean World Series ball

Great stuff everyone. I did expect a bit more response to this as I've seen some pretty nice items from members previously. Post em if you got em.
Great Clemente pics, Scott. Any Mays or Paige/Gibson pics out there?

Scorebook that contains a game from the racially integrated "All Cuban" team that barnstormed through the states at the turn of the century. This was the first Latin-American team that toured the States. This team contained players that later played in the Major Leagues such as Almeida (Almeyda) and Marsans. It also had prominent players that played in the Negro Leagues such as Bustamante.

Sorry for reviving a somewhat old post by I have had a chance to upload images for a while and I really wanted to post and talk about a very underappreciated area of collecting. While a number of my better items are currently at a locla historical society which is doing an exhibit on Negro and Latino baseball, the items below show how you can still pick up great latino baseball items for a steal. The items below are a record book for the 1946-7 Cuban baseball season. it has a couple of images of Dihigo and allows you to trace one of Minnie Minoso's early seasons game by game. The second is a 1932 cuban baseball guide. The third is the 1946 ESSO (which I belive was a offshot of Standard Oil) latin baseball guide. This is the second of a series of guides put out by ESSO and all are great becuase they have records for the Negro league players for Cuban, Meican and Puerto Rico seasons. The final item is a picture that I beleive show a cermony for Manuel (Cocaine) Garcia after he through a no hitter in the Cuban league in 1943
