Default psa 1 grading help( poor VS poor-fair)

why sometime when you see a psa graded card 1 the designation ir poor and sometime poor to fair ?

is it before the mid grade .5 ? and poor to fair is like the 1.5 now ?

I think it was an older style label between a certain time period. I guess it's still technically a '1', but I have one that could certainly be a 1.5.

I believe the cards designated poor to fair predate the .5 system.

I would say it equals a 1 today. Of course it could be bumped to a 1.5 if resubmitted.

Edited to add some clarification. There are possible 1.5 grades in the poor-fair (1) grade because PSA did not have a 1.5 prior to implementing their .5 grades.

Until a couple years ago, there were only whole number grades (1,2,3 etc.) PSA added the 1.5 grade then. Any card graded before then could not get a 1.5 because there WASN'T one.

There were only .5 grades added to the PSA grading system about about 2 1/2 years ago..So the card you are questioning, was likely graded before then...

Yeah, it's currently a 1, but at the time was considered Poor to Fair. That means if you send it in for "review" they could bump it to a 1.5, or even a 2. Or they could leave it a 1. They will apply the current grading standards to the card.

Default My answer is the correct answer

What i stated above is correct according to PSA. I knew it was but just verified to be sure. So an old grade 1 could either be poor or fair (if reevaluated)if its that important to you to find out if it deserves the .5 bump you need to pay psa to find out, the fee is dependent on the cards value.
