What value do these cards have if cut from B&W center panel located in space between player portraits?

As I recall, the values are a few dollars a piece(less than $5.00) unless it is Cobb or Matty, then they are a bit more. Separated pieces sell fairly frequently on Ebay.

if your refering to just the pieces themselves it really depends on who the section is of.. to some collectors these cards hold no true value.. but there does seem to be a growing market out there..

it seems that selling the seperate parts has become somewhat common place on ebay and common portraits have been known to reach prices around $5.00.. your basic hofers can reach prices between $10.00 and $20.00 and your higher end players, Matty, Cobb, Johnson ect. have been known to go for more.. the center pieces have been known to sell for up to $10.00..

these prices are estimates and are based on what ive witness viewing auctions.. to my knowledge they have no real catalouged value.. but since purchasing a piece of a triple folder in a presentable condition that bares an image of a hall of famer is far less expensive than purchasing the actual T205.. it has become an alternative for collectors looking to purchase big name cards without the big name price attached.. because of this the cards really just tend to determine their own value based on consumer demand..

imo the same can be said for a complete T202 that has been cut into three pieces.. since it is a complete card it may sell for more than the sum of its parts depending on its demand.. but i would not equate its value to that of an authentic grade T202 that has been altered in another way like trimming due to the overall appeal of the card.. hope this helps..

Smkey Joe Wood's end panel has sold for $50 to $100+ when it has been offered. I have only seen Cobb's end panel go for more. Smokey Joe does not have a corresponding T205 like the other players pictured on T202 end panels (this applies to another player that I cannot think of currently). That coupled with his popularity probably explains the higher price.

Do any of you think they should be catalogued ? i own a few of these, nothing too exciting. There does seem to be a demand out there for them and im sure more than 90% of them always sell on ebay. i dont see them being that much diff. than a strip card or a wheeties cutout, those are in the price guides. i say they ought to be catalogued as a triple folder and as individual pieces. But like always let the condition and the market decide the values.

The difference between T202 end panels and strip cards/Wheaties is that the latter issues were intended to be cut apart. With that said they do offer an inexpensive alternative to collecting intact T202's or T205's. They probably will never be cataloged but eBay makes it easy to track prices.

Wood (Boston Amer.) and Blair (N.Y. Amer.) are the two players featured in the T202 set that were not included in the T205 set.. there is also a variation of Devlin where he is on the Rustler's.. in the T205 set he is only featured as a N.Y. Natl.. the "Giants" version is also availible as a triple folder..

Just for info, three Cobb end panels have sold on Ebay in the last four months - $119, $153, and $204. The commons are still going from $2 - $15, depending on the shape they are in. I hope that helps give a little insight. It's still a cheap way to pick up a Cobb!

Take Care, Geno
