Default 1910 piedmont cigarettes baseball cardboard sign

I recently acquired this piece. It’s absolutely beautiful of what is there. According to my research, there’s only two known examples..? One sold in Heritage but I have not seen the other. Of course mine is not complete but it is double sided, unlike the one in Heritage. Anyone know where I could locate photos of the other known example? And does anyone know the history of these pieces? Any insight would be much appreciated.

That is the Heritage reference I mentioned. They claim there’s two known examples.

that's interesting the two sides aren't identical. I prefer the side where the pitcher is available.

very cool! thanks for sharing

That is amazing.

Smart strategy is to hit to right because the pack of cigarettes will get in the RFs way.

This is a serious coincidence, but user dbfirstman just happened to post this photo in another group I am in. It is at the National Postal Museum in Washington DC.

I like it as well as the partial that CrackaJackKid posted. On the full version, though, my eyes gravitate toward the goofy guy wearing the goofy cap selling the Piedmont cigarettes. I guess the Piedmont folks knew how to get folks to pay attention to their product.

This very well could be the 2nd example Heritage was referring to.

Very nice piece! However, I wouldn't give much credit to Heritage stating there were only 2 examples known to exist. They would be in trouble if they state the one in their auction was the only one in existence. It is a very common practice to make that "existence" number very low to help out the hammer price for item like this.

For some of my rare cards I often use the term "known". No one with half a brain is going to normally say exactly how many of something there is, because another can be found.

To the original topic, that is a magnificent poster-sign!!

This is the only AWA McCauley known
