I remember going to shows in the 80's when some sellers still were writing their prices on the back! I always just shook my head and walked on.

This is still an acceptable practice in postcard dealing/collecting.

Also in trade cards. I have many trade cards with a price and/or an inventory number written in pencil on the back.

Couple of months ago I was at an antique store that had a small stack of 1966 Topps BB in about fair condition marked $1 on the back of every card.

Sigh

I have seen modern cards priced with stickers directly on the card at my local antique stores. However, sticker or not, a 1990 Fleer David Justice will not likely sell for $2.50.

How many of us have been around non-collectors that were about to rubber band valuable cards before we said they might not want to do that? My heart has almost stopped a little when I saw people doing it before. These were 25 and 15 something (cents or dollars), respectively. My guess would be cents but it could have been dollars. BTW, whomever eventually owns these will still have the prices on them though ..
