Wish he would've provided a closeup of the tax stamp. If I remember right, Mr. Ginter has been outbidding me on other eBay auctions in the past. (T206 boxes)

I am a bit suprised that this thread hasn't received more attention. The date and everything seem right, and yes I would like to see a closer picture of the tax stamp. But this seems like such a possibly rare item that I find it hard to believe there is such little interest here. Is this an obvious fraud?

Or...are people waiting in the wings with possible bids and nobody wants to bring attention to this?

Is a friend of mine and part time board participant. We have spoken several times in the last week and he and I keep in touch frequently. I know very few people that know as much as he does about tobacco packs/tins, tobacco ephemera, and tobacco related signs.........regards

I considered that everyone was just keeping quiet. But if this is legit then I see the B.I.N as a bargain. Quite a sum for me, and I wanted opinions but it appears there really may be some interest here.

Leon-

If this guy has a lot of knowledge of packs/tins why isn't he consigning to a major auction house? The line in the auction about 5 cards in one pack seems a bit crazy. It just seems like such a rare item to be so queit on ebay. Thanks for all the advice.

It matters not now, But It Now activated. I was thinking the same thing.

$2,200 is a tad inexpensive. Can anyone add to this thread about (educational purposes now) regarding this pack?

Thanks,

DJ

I believe I have seen ads for packs, thought it was Hindu though, that had multiple cards in them. I think I remember some board members say they had actually opened packs (forget which ones) with multiple cards in them. I am sure at least one brand, and probably more, came with multiple cards. As for this one on ebay I am sure Mr.Ginter has reasons for what he says.....btw, if there is one/some cards in there, after this long rubbing up against scrap tobacco, they might not be too nice. Still a great item though....regards

Leon and others... I believe Scott (I think) who opened all of the Honest T-205 packs said that multiple cards could sometimes be pulled (I think that is the story you are reffering to). As for the Polar Bear packs - it appears from the scans to be really nice. I own the first "so-called" genuine Polar Bear unopened pack to be discovered and it was featured in SCD a while back. The Polar Bear packs used the same packaging over the years, but different dates would be stamped across the tax stamp in big purple letters. I have seen Polar Bear packs stamped as late as 1923. This one does not appear to have the purple overprint. The pack I own has no overprint, either - with just a 1910 stamp. I should also mention that all Polar Bears came from factory #6 in Ohio.

My name is Scott Hassel and I am Mr.Ginter on ebay.To answer your question about consigning to a major auction house. I normally send higher end stuff to guys like Mastro ( you have my permission to contact Bill or anyone in his orginazation for references on me). I've been collecting packs , tins , signs and cards since 1990. I started collecting with one of my best and dearest friends Henry Moses who some of you should know. I've sold some of my packs, signs, tins and cards over the years to numerous posters on this board. If you'd like those names please contact me directly at roscooe@aol.com. The story I posted with these last packs are true. You can also check me out with Terry from Tik & Tik father or son are fine.

To answer your question on the Ramly pack : Scarce as Hounds teeth" . I've never seen a full one and have only seen one empty TTT pack that I think now resides in Texas via Florida ( its old home )

I've known Scott for a decade or so.

I've talked to, bought from, sold to, visited with, battled, etc.

No problems here. Like Leon said....one of the more knowlegeable tobacco issue collectors around.

As well as being somewhat personable .

Keith

My first battle with him was in losing an OJ pack on Christmas Eve about four years ago - what a stunner!

In regards to the Ramly pack - I know of 6 of them or so now. I believe Leon owns a very nice one, and Scott has a couple now. I also own one. As for the T.T.T. - there is only 1 that has every been seen. I believe Henry owns it and sold it to Scott. Scott graciously photographed it and let me use it in his guide... it's truly an incredible pack.

as to some of the above post's i have 4 ramly packs, 3 being different. 1 is the pack that scott forrest posted a link to above, it was the most recent one i won on ebay, however it NEVER contained a baseball card, it is a 1907 vintage and too small to hold a card, but none the less a rare pack, the others i have are different color combinations and all of the correct size and year to have been issued with cards. i also have a Mentor Co. pack(the manufacturer and producer of TTT and Ramly) which may have held a card of some type but probably not(again the only 1 i have seen). i also have a few coupons and inserts, and would love to exhange info with others that may have similiar material related to Mentor Co. or Ramly/TTT.
