Default 1953 Brunswick Pirates Photo Book

I was able to pick up this extremely cool photo booklet recently. It shows 18 player photo cards of the team.

The original book they are in is a really beautiful piece.

Can't find any others online, but I assume they are out there.
The only player to make the majors was Gene Freese. So I guess that would make it a pre rookie.
The photos are inserted into the paper not trimmed and glued.

Any pirates fans or Georgia-Florida League fans?

This has been sold.

That IS really nice! They just don’t make souvenirs like they used to.

Hi:
I am a specialist (among others) who collect Globe cards which this group happens to be. I have over 170 of such issues and they NEVER brought the kind of $$$ you are asking. Not to say you might realize your asking price - I actually hope you do for personal reasons - as mentioned.

On another subject I do not know what you may collect or be interested in but I would be willing to make a huge trade offer plus cash if interested to add to my Globe collection.

I am talking for example an autograhed 1968 Gaylord Perry no-hit program with stub and program, many PSA star cards Mantle cards (not "52 unfortunately) Rose rookie and much other collected since 1946 or so.

Would like to add the Brunswick group to my Globe collection and hope to hear from you.

Thanks a lot and take care,

Mark K. Bowers

Hi Lucas, is this the same one that's currently listed on eBay? I understood it wasn't for sale. That's an incredible pickup. I'd never even heard of the Brunswick Pirates before. It turns out they're from Georgia.

The teams' manager, Jack Paepke, made it to the majors as a coach with the Angels in 1961 and was with them through their first year in Anaheim five years later. Jack was the guest of honor at the first card show I ever went to in 1974, also in Anaheim — I still have a badge from the show with his photo on it.

Quick update, Thanks everybody for the nice words. I have never had so much interest on an item, for sale or not. However I no longer own the book. A private deal was made that I couldn't pass on.

I'm happy to have owned it and brought a new item into the hobby that was likely never going to see the light of day again.

I wish I had 15 more so everyone that's interested could get one!

Also just to be clear that is the same book on ebay. And I'm not the seller. I believe it changed hands quite fast to somebody who listed it for sale, but doesn't really want to sell. A collectors price for sure!

Whoa stop the check!
Brunswick, Georgia is my hometown! I still reside here and often see some of the new players today. It was great to see that thanks!
