Default Top Ten Pre-War Cards I Can Afford

Given that most of us could never afford a t206 Wagner or Plank, I thought it would be fun to put together a list of the top ten pre-War cards that you can buy for less than $1000 (assuming a decently presentable example).

Here's my first offering that I would put near the top the list. I will try to compile a top ten later based on the responses we get.

A Goudey Ruth (this one cost me $800):

Default T205 Cobb

I think I paid about $500 for this one. You could probably get a nicer example for closer to $1K.

I don't have an example, but I'm sure you could get a decent 1887 N28 Cap Anson for less than $1,000

E270-2 Colgan's Tin Top
E286 JuJu Drum
T5 Pinkerton Cabinet
W600
PC796 Sepia
PC805 Novelty Cutlery
R317 Uncle Jack's
Vunc Holland's

cue second under $1K Anson. Curious to compare their paper loss.. your 1's front looks better than my 1.5's.

I guess the Cuban - Punch cards of Hall of Famers do not count here as probably less than 0.1% of us can afford them (myself included) these days...........

Nice Anson there! Here's a scan of my Cap's back (a little more severe, plus a little bit of tape residue)
