Default Metal Lunch Meat Helmet

I recently went home and found some of these and wondered if anyone had more information on them.

I was given these by my neighbor when I was little, back in the late 60's, I think, and I think they were part of lunch meat packaging, Oscar Mayer, I believe.

I can remember looking forward to getting a new one now and then.

I usually read the vintage baseball forum, but haven't participated much on the football forum.

Any help would be appreciated.

-Alan

Default Metal Lunch Meat Helmet

Hi Alan,

They were issued with Hormel sliced lunch meat back in 1965. Somewhere I have an old newspaper ad advertising the trays.

A couple of the teams in that set of Hormel Meat trays (lids) have a background color variation.

Do you have other teams, and do you plan to sell them?

I don't plan to sell them at this point, but I have:

Steelers
49ers
Vikings
Cowboys
Lions
Browns
Colts with blue background
Redskins
Rams (2)

Which background is the Cowboys lid, green or white?
