is that Condiotti will never own ALL the "best of the best". My cards pale next to his but I have several caramel cards which are the highest graded and he ain't gettin' em

Candiotti comes across as a genuine collector. Noticed how many times he uses the word "love" to describe a card ... "I love that Mays card" ... "I have T206 Eddie Plank in PSA8. I love that card" ... "I also love my 1941 Play Ball Joe DiMaggio" ... Sounds like a kid describing his favorite toys.

Funny that he-=-apparently-prefers the '49 Bowman Paige to the '48 (?) Leaf.

Not into 19th century, I see.

It looks like Tom is very fond of the but I am very curious if he has any idea about grading. He makes the note that he had a guy helping him. Is Tom aware of the scandles that have happened upon PSA. Too me he is another collector with blind faith in PSA. The article is mainly there to promote PSA.

By the way Bob, he is not interested in the players he does not know. Just a jealous comment because I don't have any really high greade stuff.

He's got an awesome collection. It's even more awesome when I read through his list and NOT one of his cards did I go WOW. Great collection but different taste (thank goodness). That's all we need is another "money is no object" collector in our little vintage space. Yeah, he's got a few biggies but you can tell where his addiction lies. later

That card is a classic.

Of course, when it comes to Paige, I like the 53 Topps best with that martian (?) logo.

Don't own any of 'em; can't bring myself to pay the $$ for postwar cards, thanks to you folks Have to live with my Exhibit card. BTW, if you want a Paige and don't feel like spending high three to low four figures, the Exhibit is a great deal.

Sorry for all the edits this a.m.; too much agave (as in Tequila) last night and I feel like I'm typing through a haze. Never, ever drink Margaritas and watch "From Dawn To Dusk" again...

Perhaps if we had the resources some of us would also collect like Tom, but I wouldn't be one of them. Seemed odd that he put together a list of everyone else's top 25, then went after that. Why not build a list of YOUR top 25? Also, having to have the best of each card, as defined by PSA. Seemed like he is more into the holders than the cards. I would guess that Tom would much prefer a PSA9 with light ink, weaker registration, than a PSA8 with perfect color, etc.

It's also interesting that he was duped by so many trimmed cards, but now feels so safe with high-grade, high-dollar cards in PSA slabs. Using PSA to protect you from yourself? Oops.

it ain't Mother Theresa publishing it; of course they are going to "encourage" product mentions and placement.

I agree with warshawlaw that the '53 topps Paige is his best card.

I'm glad to see that candiotti was into cards as a kid, not just as a millionaire buying slabs.

Great cards. Great collection which I am sure he loves like we love ours. I (like perhaps some others who are unwilling to admit it ) am jealous.

It is a nice collection and to each his own. I am sure that Candiotti does not mind the malcontents who do not agree with the way he has spent his money. And as Leon said earlier, let us be thankful that he has not entered the vintage arena.

I'm not sure how expressing our opinions about Candiotti's comments and collecting habits should cause us to be labeled "malcontents". Everyone's sort of getting along here - I don't really see the need for anyone to stir things up with other board members, simply because they aren't getting responses to their caustic and unprovoked emails.

I believe there was a post a while back regarding the 48 Mikan PSA 10 that appears to have an irregular cut.

that each post made must contain either an expressed disdain for PSA or contempt towards those who might have more money than us. Sorry. I will get with the program. Thanks Sparky.
