Default Let's See Your Jefferson Burdick Stamped Cards

I looked for a thread on these and didn't see one dedicated to it, so I thought I would start one. Here are my two.

Here's a T201. I've shown this one a few times in other threads over the years. Maybe those threads did not have "Burdick stamp" in the title...

Very cool. What degree of a premium does a Burdick stamp add to the price of a card?

Default to answer the question

I'd say it's likely in most cases to LOWER the card's value as it defaces the verso. That said - as you can see there are collectors that appreciate the historical hobby significance the stamping brings.

Not stamped, not vintage, and not mine. Just thought that, given this thread, it might be appropriate. Maybe it does detract in value, but if I had a card with his backstamp, or any backstamp on a vintage card, frankly, I would treasure it! Cool as can be!

Does a December 25th, 1955 stamp count?

He must have hid from cameras.

My E80 Jack Johnson

i don't think there is a ready conclusion to be drawn as to market value of a Burdick-owned card. People who find and identify them tend to prize them and not offer them for sale. I'd want a substantial multiple of the price for a standard E80 Johnson to sell this one.

Anyone know how many different stamp styles are known to exist?

The Jeff B and the letter B are the typical ones. There are also stamps showing a connection with the Met and I would be concerned that those cards were stolen.

I had a complete collection of E28's with JB's fancy purple stamp.

Adding an example of the Met collection stamp(s) as well.

This is the exact same card I came to add as it is a recent addition to my collection and was hoping for more information.

Photo A - This is the card in question.

Photo B - It contains the MET stamp at the lower and another new to me stamp stating it was a duplicate.

Photo C - The curious thing is that is looks as though another stamp has been poorly removed near top center.
  • First question is, does anyone have a guess as to what this top removed stamp is.
  • Secondly, was this removed from the collection properly? Was there a sale I do not know of during which the MET sold duplicates?
  • Third, and this is always a reasonable question; Is this really a Burdick or a craft project?
I am genuinely interested in what the deal is here. This was also a fairly low budget purchase so if it was removed improperly the MET can most certainly have it back.
