Default 1933 Delong - PSA vs SGC

Looking for some advice from our fellow members. I would like to complete the 1933 Delong set in appx. midgrade (PSA 5) condition.

Would you suggest PSA or SGC and WHY? Will one cost more? More availability? Resale value?

I am semi-new to pre-war collecting. What is the general consensus in regards to PSA vs. SGC for grading pre-war cards?

Thanks in advance for your knowledge.

Which will cost more: Probably PSA. PSA usually demands a premium since you'll be up against a larger pool of collectors.

More availability: PSA. A quick ebay search found 42 to 16 PSA vs. SGC graded Delongs. The corresponding POP Reports show 2568 PSA graded Delongs versus 1198 SGC graded.

Resale Value: PSA. It goes along with the "which will cost more" question.

With that said; it'll be easier and slightly more expensive to complete the set through PSA, but a lot of members here believe SGC slabs are prettier. It's a toss up.

jhs5120 makes good points. That said, if you are not going for super high grade, I don't think it makes a big difference which holder the card is in. I like the way my set looks in SGC holders.

I also love the look of these cards in an SGC holder.

I have had several psa and sgc cards from this set and the sgc holders really make the cards display much better in my opinion.

And of course, you can buy any of the ways (raw, SGC, PSA) and then decide which one you want all of them to be holdered in. Send them into the company and they'll transfer them into a new case for you for a fee. But if you're collecting this set, that fee is negligible.
