Default T206 Ames with clouds/textured sky - Thoughts?

Found this in a lot and immediately noticed that it looks different than a typical Ames. Looks like the sky is intentionally textured or maybe it's supposed to be clouds. At first I thought it was just wear, but there is no wear on his glove or face. The sides are a little wavy, which would suggest a hand-cut, but the top and bottom look factory cut to me.

More minutiae than anything else probably, but thought it was cool. It's a P150. Anyone else have any P150s that look similar?

Did it come out of a scrapbook? My first thought was soak/glue damage.

Looks like mine has a little of that, too, Luke. I'm not sure if those areas just aren't as pronounced on mine or if it's the scan, but your 'clouds' look stronger/more white. And in yours, the whole image looks like it has more ink as well. Maybe mine is what they regularly look like, though.

Mine is also a Piedmont 150 FWIW.

Luke

The Ames sky effect is similar to the Ritchey sky effect (which varies from pale blue to clouds in the sky).
McQuillan is another card in the 150 series of the T206 set that has varying sky effects.

Another card where I notice sky variability like this is the McGraw glove on hip, though the "painterly" effect even extends to McGraw himself.
