Default February Pickups

Got these because of the personalization to my name from some of my favorite actors and actresses. The Myrna Loy is my favorite. Vintage still from 1935.

Priscilla Lane from one of my favorite movies, Arsenic and Old Lace

Maureen O'Sullivan from so many great films. Famous for her role as Jane in the earliest Weismuller Tarzan films. Also played a key role in another of my favorite films...The Thin Man

Robert Preston still circa 1939. Great character actor and his role in The Music Man is one of my all time favorites

June Allyson was just so cheery and fun. Wasn't really in any of my favorite films but was always a favorite actress because she just seemed like such a good person.

And an underrated beauty on a still from Yankee Doodle Dandy. One of the busiest actresses of the 1940's, Joan Leslie.

Default 1927 Lazzeri Testimonial Menu

Dated September 8th, 1927, got this testimonial dinner menu period signed by Lou Gehrig, Tony Lazzeri, Bob Meusel, and Mayor LaGuardia. Babe Ruth and a handful of other Yankees were also in attendance on this day dedicated to Mr. Lazzeri.

#251-Sam Thompson postcard to his niece-acquired from a fellow board member. I was going to pass on it since it was his first name only, but Jim S. knocked some sense into me (If you still read these boards-Thanks Jim!)

Picked up a President Trump signed Constitution I was going to make an Oath of Office out of it, but I kind of like that it's a signed Constitution especially with all the controversy so I might just leave this one intact. Trump is very hard to tind nice signed books to make typescripts out of because he signs freaking huge and usually takes up the whole top part of the page.

And I made a neat typescript out of one of her boyfriend's signed bookplates...

And made this one from a GW signed book that I had lying around

And had a few Hillary signed books lying around as well so made a couple of these and some other assorted ones, a nice excerpt from her concession speech

And made this one out of another Bush book.

Default Frank robinson

Excited to add this Frank Robinson AP to my collection... Reverse has 3 cardinals penned in the same ink (poholsky,Nelson, and McDaniel). Poholsky a last season with the cards was 1956, nelson's only year was 56. That said, it's xtremely likely that franked penned this graph during his rookie campaign in 1956

That is one of the cooler pick-ups I have seen in a while. I have some photo-copies from maybe 10 years ago from Thompson's family that are the closest thing I have ever seen to an autograph. I dont think you will ever regret buying that piece! Congratulations, it is really rare in ANY form!

Thanks for the complements. I remember there was a "dream autograph" thread, and I posted Sam Thompson (the rarest HOFer of all Detroit Tigers). Never thought I would own one. I have said it before, but this is why these boards are the best. I was offered this privately after seeing someone else post it. Really need to thank the board member for offering it to me for my collection. My understanding is there are 3 total original postcards like this, including this one, all from Sam's great niece.

Couple more from my spring training trip this year:

Top row is Trea Turner and Yoenis Cespedes

Bottom row is Amed Rosario and Alex Bregman

Was really happy to add Turner, Rosario and Bregman to my collection now before they're huge stars. Rosario is MLB's number 8 prospect and Turner finished second in ROY last year. Bregman is a beast for Houston as well.

This story began in 2014 after a friend of mine wrote this article about my collection as he followed me to a January White Plains show. After the story was published I received a lot of nice comments and attention from it from collectors and friends.

Among the notoriety I received was an email from a man living in Michigan writing on behalf of his wife, whose father had recently passed. While going through his belongings they came across a postcard of Hank Greenberg that was signed to her father. It was a treasured piece of this man's collection.

I had several rounds of negotiations with the man regarding the postcard. However, I was strapped for cash at the time, and conversation fizzled out.

Fast forward to 2017; on a long train ride home from work I thought again about this postcard and wondered if they still had it. Luckily I was able to find the conversation in my emails and reached back out to the gentleman who I was speaking with 3 years ago and asked him if they still had the postcard.

To my surprise, they did.

We picked up where we left off, agreed on a price and the deal was done! Funny part was that neither of them had a PayPal account, so I sent a check in the mail, the old fashioned way, which I found funny.

The postcard arrived in the mail the other day, I opened it live on my YouTube channel. Please watch the video to see what else they included in the package for me. It was quite memorable.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DoysTYou6bY

Thanks for the read guys!

Default The man in black

Got this one for a friend, but I think I'm keeping it... It's too cool. It came from the estate of a woman who worked for Marty Robbins, and saw Mr Cash on a regular basis... The photo is about the size of a baseball card, I guess it's from the 50's or early 60's as it has that tinny look about it...

Some nice pickups this month.
I did some digging at my family home a rediscovered some things. So not new per se, but newly found.
EDIT: Probably some will be for sale, but I am not sure which ones.

these too

I am pretty sure this is a late 1989 or 1990 Griffey as that is when I would have gotten it.

Mark,

Is that Mel Ott album page signed?

If it is...I wonder if Mel Ott wrote the "1936 Still outstanding slugger" ...seems to be in the same pen/maybe same handwriting? lol

Very cool Tony G and Jr.!

Gary,
The Melvin Ott is his signature. The stuff written below it is not in his hand IMO.
