Default Hakes 1920 INDIANAPOLIS ABC'S Photo

Incredible photo but was it stolen from the HOF? Reverse top right has Nergo League written in red which is pretty odd and very similar to the red PD (public domain) marks the Hall used that are often written over on other stolen items in order to conceal. There's also scratched out writing (Indianapolis written over it) that you see on other stolen items where the sequential numbers used by the Hall are trying to be concealed.

Incredible photo and I hope I'm wrong but thought it was worth discussing for potential bidders.

Nothing to worry about: the Hakes item is from the "Nergo League"

Jeff:

Thank you for the heads-up regarding our Indianapolis Negro League photo currently running in the auction. We have already begun the process of looking into the matter and will update everyone once we have additional information and will handle the situation accordingly at that time.

At this time, we have made the decision to pull the photo in question from our current auction. All current bidders will be notified.

Thanks for the update Phil, I have the upmost respect for Hake's, just thought this thread would help educate collectors as a lot of these items are in the marketplace. (1907 Highlanders cabinet photo currently on ebay for example)

Outstanding auction by the way, I'll be bidding.
