Default Harper's Woodcut - 1885 - Is that Anson?

Saw a nice print today at an old bookstore in Manhattan. Noticed the Chicago AL player running in the middle of the print looked to be Cap Anson. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Has it been previously documented by our resident Anson historians?

I found a blurry-ish image online here:

I am not an Anson expert, but I think not.

Here's a link of the woodcut that hasn't been "colored"...

I think that as the runner slides home that is the catcher tagging him... the fellow running is running from the pitching box. In 1885 Anson was primarily a first baseman. I do not think that was meant to be Anson, but instead a generalized image.

I agree with Frank and don't think it is Anson. Value-wise I don't think it would make a huge difference either way, probably a $20 - $25 piece.

Default Buck Ewing

Hi Guys,
This is from the August 22, 1885 Harpers. This is a full page called "The winning run - How is it umpire?". Buck Ewing is sliding into home plate.

I love these woodcuts but they are cheap, considering their age.

Rick
