Default Huggins and Scott Auctions Bidding Begins Tomorrow!

The upcoming September 2010 worldwide internet auction will offer over 1,000 consigned lots of vintage and modern sports cards and memorabilia in a two-day auction with bidding conducted by phone and Internet via the company's Web site, www.hugginsandscott.com. Bidding begins on Wednesday September 15th at Noon eastern time.

The auction will consist of a powerful line-up of rare and unique items including a 1933 Sport Kings low series 24-card uncut sheet and a 1911 T212 Obak 179-card uncut sheet (the largest tobacco card uncut sheet ever offered) that includes three Buck Weaver cards. The 1933 Sport Kings uncut 24-card sheet is one of only two known examples in the industry and features Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Red Grange and Howie Morenz. Another large format relic that will draw considerable interest is a seldom-seen Nat Fein 16x20 original photograph, “The Babe Bows Out.” This immaculate Pulitzer Prize winning image is a full bleed image and was produced by Fein, in his studio, nearly 50 years ago and has never been offered for public sale before now.

Card collectors will enjoy a plethora of 19th century and early 20th century rarities including a complete 1887 N28 Allen & Ginter World’s Champions set, 1916 Collins-McCarthy Joe Jackson (SGC 50), a nice selection of sharp 1911 M116 graded singles with Cobb, Young, Plank and Wagner plus an extensive Rogers Hornsby vintage collection of cards. Notable post-war cards include Mickey Mantle cards from 1951 Bowman and 1952 Topps, a rare 1955 Topps #164 Roberto Clemente (PSA 8), 1961 Topps Dice Game Brooks Robinson and the highest graded 1963 Post Cereal #187 Bob Aspromonte short-print card (PSA 8).

The spotlight may fall on the extensive collection of Muhammad Ali items that include a unique signed Ali glove with an original sketch, a pair of Ali signed Stephen Holland Giclee-on-canvas artworks, a large 40x30” photograph of Ali with the Beatles (signed by Ali), “Athlete of the Century” Neiman serigraph (signed by both Ali and Neiman) and dozens of other treasured Ali relics.

Several high quality autographed items from baseball icons will also be offered in the upcoming auction. Included is a single-signed Christy Mathewson baseball, a gorgeous Ty Cobb/Stan Musial dual signed baseball, three Babe Ruth signed baseballs, a beautiful Thurman Munson baseball and multi-signed item with Ruth, Cobb, Wagner, Lajoie and J. Collins. All autographs have been examined and authenticated.

Other phenomenal artifacts in this auction include the Herman Moore collection of personal items including game-worn helmets and jerseys (including a Isiah Thomas Indiana University jersey), a large assortment of modern relic/autographed cards with a Ruth/Gehrig #1/1 and John F. Kennedy/Marilyn Monroe signed card, a complete football Goal Line Art signed set (#100), two Leroy Neiman original watercolors with Joe DiMaggio and Michael Jordan and one of the best Cal Ripken high grade card collections ever offered at auction with over (1400) PSA 10 graded cards.

Huggins and Scott Auctions takes great pride and care with each individual lot offered and tries to make every experience with our company an enjoyable one. The current auction opens on Wednesday September 15 and closes September 29-30, 2010. Consignments are now being accepted for our November 2010 and January 2011 auctions.

I know of the existence of another example. I don't blame the auction house for not knowing of its existence, but thought for the sake of those who are considering bidding on it to make this disclosure.

I would be interested in the T3 Meyers in Lot #23 if someone wins it and wants to move it.
