Default REA, how did it go for you?

I had a lot of fun. Whoever took my Suter type 2 I needed for my Sutor run, I tip my cap to you, good sir/ma'am!

Got skunked on the D381's. I need some commons from the big common partial set lot if the buyer is a board member. Shoot me a PM or email I'll pay very healthy on my needs. Have a bunch to trade too.

The D381's brought some really healthy prices!

I got one Ruth RPPC lot 700. I apologize if I sniped a fellow board member. G'night all.

Well, I looked down to place my final bids, and somehow I missed the Astros scoring 4 runs.

Great auction. I won some, lost a couple I wanted, but I love the hard midnight deadline. Thank you!

No worries at all. I thought it went low when it sold from my collection the first time. Nice Weaver too...I saw that. I can't buy all of my collection back but a few things here and there are nice for memories. It was interesting this card went as high as it did when it sold in my collection the first time AND wasn't described as the ultra rare orange background it is. I guess colors don't matter....

Picked up 2 lots, the e253 Johnson and, shockingly , the e92 croft candy run with the red back.

Funny thing, all night I kept saying "Dang it Leon, stop, I need this one." I am taking solace in the A.W.H. and a few other lots.

My perfect bidding record with REA remains intact.

Was chasing 2 t206 Johnson portraits, the PSA 6 sovereign and the PSA 1 EPDG. I was the underbidder on the Sovereign that went for $7800 with the juice, it was just too much considering the same card sold for $4500 on ebay 2 months ago (though I still think Wajo in general is undervalued, this was a high grade specimen with a difficult back). Snagged the EDPG paying too much at $1500 with the juice for a card with a pinhole in it but I needed it for my EPDG back run.

Won 2 lots of items I really didn't want, but seemed like good prices.

1980 Pepsi Winfield unissued proof
1952 Bob swift psa 8

Also overdid it on the signed bowman collection of 60, but there were a handful of vintage pen umpires that have become so tough in recent years, I stuck with it.

It was nice to see some love on the T3 Joss. I've always loved that image, and even with the no offer back, 15k was a shocker.

I know not in you guys wheel house but finally picked up a nice Koufax Rookie (SGC 84) which fills a huge hole for me. Probably paid ALL the money on it - but stoked anyway....

The Goodwin Kelly in PSA-5 got away (it was just an upgrade anyway), but I snagged the Ron Lewis autographed set.

Lonnie - You got a beauty! Congrats!

Great auction! I won the lot I had the most interest in and finished a little short on a few others. My first E222 will have to wait a bit longer

I am now the proud owner of a T215 Pirate back, Frank Chance front. Very psyched to have such a rare piece.

Was fighting hard for the E107 Plank, but it got higher than I wanted -- closing at almost $17k with juice. I also though I had a chance at the T206 Plank 1.5, but was outbid (by someone willing to pay $45k w/juice) with a week left and that bid held, making, yet again, the underbidder on a Plank -- always a bridesmaid.

I was glad to see the brown old mill top $20k -- awesome card someone got there. Amd I think the 33 Lajoie brought a great price for a great card. Man was I happy to see the 48 Leaf Paige PSA 3 go for $24k; luckily I pulled my PSA 4 from BST a week ago, considering I was asking a mere $23k

Pete, congrats on the Ruth? Which one? I picked up a 3.5 from a board member last month and i love it.

Regarding the Wajo Sovereign -- great looking card but man did someone pay the piper to get that sucker.

Great auction. Tons of major cards.

Got two Gehrigs I needed. Apologies to the guy who bought the Gehrig final game ticket for costing you a few thousand dollars. Nice piece.

What a great auction. Missed out on a couple that I would have loved to pick up. Congrats on the 1908 Pirates team postcard whoever got that one. I was able to add to my Pirates collection.

I won the only three lots I bid on, two of which I won with my initial placeholder bids from weeks ago (1969 and 1970 Milton Bradley baseball games with cards, and McLaughlin Coffee trade card lot). Of course, those were the ones I wouldn't have minded getting outbid on, and the one I was most interested in -- an Arbuckle Coffee lot of 10 trade card sets, 558 total cards -- went for more than I was hoping to pay, but I'm glad I got it in the end. It was just me vs. one other guy, with quite a bit of back and forth bidding at the end. I'm glad so few people in an auction like this are interested in trade cards, because I feel like I got a good deal -- almost 700 trade cards from the 1890s that I didn't have, all for around $2K.

I was shut out again. I missed on all my main targets and passed on a secondary one to wait for future auctions. The REA premium is amazing. I am glad I bought my t206 Plank when I did. I paid slightly more than the one last night, but it is much nicer. I couldn't believe a 1.5 brought 45k.

Managed to snag the E92 Davis Croft Candy-Blue to go with brother Red, a card that you, Leon, might remember. Tried to go for the Nadja and Dockman Davis' cards, which were part of a group, but lost out at the midnight hour.
A question for E92 aficionados: Does Davis come with a Crofts Cocoa reverse?

Hi John - I believe that all 50 cards in the standard E92 set come with both Croft’s Cocoa as well as Croft’s Candy backs. I do not think that there are any cards that are unique to just one of those backs.

John, yes, Davis absolutely does come with Cocoa. I suspect it does, however I have never seen or heard of a black crofts candy. This is the only black crofts I have not confirmed.

Kevin, I believe Shean has not been confirmed with a Cocoa. I know of 1 Cocoa set missing just the Shean.

Awesome pickup. Glad to see the sets go to a board member. There has been some discussion of the T36 set throughout the "Vintage Racing" thread on this board. One of the regular posters in that thread is putting together a T36 set one card at a time. The Barney Oldfield card in the T36 set is one of my favorites, because he looks like such a bad ass chomping on his cigar. LOL

By REA standards, I think you got a nice deal for those two sets. I am not overly familiar with the T37 set, but the T36s are a long, slow slog to put together a set one card at a time.

I won a couple cards - a 15 CJ Alexander and a 41 Play Ball Teddy - that I think I bid on just to win something.

After getting outbid on a couple larger items, I diverted my dollars to another purchase, however, and was able to make a deal with Greg S. last night to pick up this Anson to complete my N162 baseball subset. Always good to have an REA back-up plan.

Jon great snags! Love the Cobb and Wags. And Sam excellent centered 2.5 Anson. If all 2.5's looked like that I'd be fine with my whole collection in that grade.

Wondering if anyone here bid on this Ruth 144? Was top for most of the auction and then someone outbid late so I had to decide to set a vcp record or walk away. ugh. Wish I hadn't had all those beers during the WS game. :-)

I passed on both Des Moines cabinet cards. Condition on the Laroche didn't justify price on that one. The other I have seen up for sale a few times I've last few years, not sure if same photo, but didn't pull the trigger on it either. Hopefully the consignor is a board member and contacts me privately or puts up in another auction in the near future.

I thought with the recent climb in postcards that this pair from 1912 would have gone higher, but was happy that it didn't!

I picked up an off condition Wajo PC796 and a similarly off condition Roush Honey Boy. I finished 2nd on three other Honey Boy cards-was leading on Speaker till 11:45. Also lost the Frisch and Heilman late in the game. Blown away on (and surprised by) the Bancroft. Only $120 less than the higher graded Alexander went for. Did the Alex go low or did the Bancroft go high?

Default Finally, got my 1951 Parkhurst Howe

Well,

It took me 4 years but was finally able to get my 1951-52 Parkhurst Gordie Howe PSA 6. I was also trying for the 1907 Ty Cobb Fielding Dietsche but just came up short. Maybe next year

Troy
