Default 1949 Boston Braves Jersey of Eddie Stanky fromGoldin Auctions

Hi All.......just received the 1949 Eddie Stanky Boston Braves jersey I won on the recent Goldin Auction.
What I love about this jersey is he played for all my favorite teams....the Cubs, Robinson's Rookie year with the Dodgers, Bobby Thomson's "Shot heard round the world " Giants and Willie's Rookie year and, of course the Boston Braves.
While not a perfect example, one thing, the sleeve patch is a reproduction, zipper does not function, etc.....but....it will look great displayed on the Boston Braves section of the room.It came from Mears...see tag.
The display cabinet will be here next week.
Anyway, enjoy the photos.......now if I can just find an original Boston Braves ball cap..........enjoy, Mike

Congratlations on winning that jersey! I am a writer for Goldin and saw that jersey in-person and it is a beauty! Stanky was always one of my favorite ball players. He wasn't the best 2nd baseman in the league but he always found a way to win, plus he had a knack of winding up on pennant winners - 1947 Dodgers, 1948 Braves and 1951 Giants - he just missed being on the 1945 Cubs as well. Those old Braves jerseys look magnificent in person and will be a killer display piece!

Thanks for the compliment on my book Mike! It's gotten really great reviews so far and I just got back from doing a second NPR interview (this one for "It's Only a Game").

Don't want to sidetrack this thread - that '49 Braves jersey is too good for that!

Wow, that is a beautiful jersey!! It is in great shape and one of not many Stanky jerseys to survive! One thing I just noticed is that I think there is a Braves cap in upcoming Grey Flannel auction.

Default Thank you

Thanks Dan for the tip on the upcoming cap.
There is no rot or smell or anything in that regard to this jersey. It really is no n great condition and will display nicely. When I get it put together, I'll post a picture of its new home.
It was really amazing yesterday opening the box and unwrapping the jersey. A wonderful euphoria knowing that Eddie Stanky wore this jersey when he played for the Braves....unreal.
But, needless to say, those are the moments that explain why we do what we do with this crazy hobby. I'll check their auction site out, thanks again, Mike
