Default '34 Diamond Stars Lefty Grove vs. '34 Goudey Foxx

Posted By: peter chao

Both of these cards are the first cards in their respective sets. Both players are of comparable stature as Hall of Famers. If you think of them as comparable players, which card would you rather have. Are they equally scarce? Are they equally condition sensitive? Is the '34 Goudey a lot more popular set than the '34 Diamond Stars?

Peter,
A worthy prewar card question, hope some of the guys give you credit

According to PSA:

Grove 191 cards graded- 42 of them 6 or higher (includes '34 and '35)
Foxx 241 cards graded- 53 of them 6 or higher

Both sets seem to be equally popular with approximately 12,000 graded for each.
Personally, I find the Grove to be more attractive. I would be curious to know some final prices for each in matching grades?

Richard,

Thanks. No big deal. Eventually, I had to get lucky and post a card-related thread.
