Default Heritage Wins

Anyone win any lots? I love the lot-by-lot closing.

I won this.. I had my eye on the d359 lot but unfortunately someone kept bidding me up for the nadja lot, so I just had the money for this -

http://sports.ha.com/c/item.zx?saleN...lotIdNo=372002

On a side note - I drank coffee preparing for a late evening; what to do now?!

Default a new set to learn about

Was reeaally hoping the t207 group of 95 would slip through the cracks but was not to be the case. I put down 10k on it but someone bid 15k not counting BP.

However, I did come away with a win I was really happy about - the group of 1912 8 Wunc strip cards including Wagner, Young and two uncatalogued cards. Looking forward to finding out a bit more about these!

I was the high bidder the entire final week on the Ruth Authentic RC until a few hours before extended bidding began last night. I went as high as $13K+ with juice but just didn't have the funds to go any higher. Of course, only one bid topped me and it sold for $14K+ with juice. I figure this was probably my only chance to ever own a presentable Ruth RC in today's market. Very frustrating to come so close but I guess close only counts in horseshoes, huh.......

I picked up these two for what I thought were very good prices. I thought a lot of items went pretty low last night, but obviously not the ones you guys are describing above.

Thanks Pete! I don't think they are that hard, but I haven't seen even one out there... It's probably because they aren't collected that much. This definitely puts me 2 cards away!

Phil, that sucks to hear. I was thinking the same thing as you as being able to pickup a nice Ruth RC for a decent price but after it went over 10 I shifted my focus to other lots. It was a very Nice Ruth.

Dan,

I've never seen that Detroit Steel Tube PC before. What a great image. At 21, Cobb already looks like a mean dude. In that pic, he looks just like Steve McQueen, who would have been the perfect person to play Cobb on film.

When I 1st saw the image on that Detroit Steel Tube, I had to have it. Its such a great image (one that I've never seen before) from early on in his career and the fact that its rare made it even more intriguing.

Thanks all - No not the whole lot, a buddy made the score and we had a side deal. I do have quite a few CJs coming from it getting me down to 6 on the my 181-card set. I may have to try for a downgrade on the JJ if there's any interest out there. I woke up hungover and happy this morning!

Great looking set Steve. Those cards look awesome.
The website says that you are proactively accepting offers to sell it? I buy lots to resell and have no issue with that but was your initial intention, to flip it? Once again, no issue at all.....just curious. (and did I mention that is one heckuva beautiful subset?)

I have three strong bids in tonight - hopefully I can do some boasting in the morning.

Good luck to everyone....except those of you who are bidding against me. May you drink too much tonight, or get caught up watching re-runs.

Thanks, Leon...I can't wait to get it home!

I have no intentions of selling or flipping...Heritage just has a feature that automatically turns on the "allow anonymous offers" which I just turned on for the heck of it...figured it doesn't hurt anything to have it on...in fact, if I ever bought a card that people were curious about, I like the idea that they could contact me without knowing who I am. (There are multiple cards that I wasn't to track down from auctions years ago, but I don't know how to do it.)

(I wanted to post a picture instead of a link, but I'm on my phone and i can't upload a picture in the post from my phone...)

Have a good one,
Steve

I forgot to bid the first night--too many other irons in the fire. Missed a couple of items I'd have gone after for a lot more. Their multiple-closing, multiple-format, many-rules set up has gotten out of hand but seemed to work to my advantage yesterday as I picked up a lot at its opening bid during the live session [my placeholder bid held], which I really did not expect. A pair of Wood imperial sized cabinets from 1897 of Fitzsimmons and Corbett:

3 more lots tonight: A Tom Sharkey signed PC and two cabinets [Frank Slavin mis-identified as Peter Maher by Heritage, and Charlie Mitchell] from the New York Illustrated News set [ACC # M125].

I won one card and received it quite some time ago. I paid a day or two after the auction and it was an EFT so it was instant. I also live very close to their office though.

They are a fairly large company and I guarantee their shipping dept. wouldn't know your name from my name. My winnings were less than $500 total. Give them a call and ask them about it....

Some department of theirs send me an email on October 28, saying my items would be shipped on 'open account', without waiting for payment (I paid immediately, regardless). I don't think they let their shipping department know, as I believe I'm in that same long line that everyone complains about.

No biggie, I'll just wait and then in another couple of weeks, send my usual email to Chris. I only posted here out of curiosity.
